182 insurance with cup packs

I've got a 182 with cup packs on and im in my last month of insurance with tesco, problem is when i get quotes where do i say its got cup packs?does it class as a modification?would carry on with tesco but the renewals expensive. How does everyone go about geting quotes? can any recommend any good insurance companies? im 23, 2 yrs no claims with 3 pts, cheapest im quoted is £1400

I wouldn't declare them, as its a factory option. If you purchased a BMW new, and they asked you to spec it. Would you then tell your insurance company that BMW has modified your car......

I just say no mods. Its as it came out of the factory.

your insurance is expensive mate. I'm 20 1 years no claims and 3 points and mine is £1700 not much more than yours. Thats for a liqiud yellow 182 with the cup packs. I told the insurance company bout the cup packs to be on the safe side and they said it didn't make a difference. Your best at least mentioning it cos the insurance company will probably try and screw you over if you don't. I dont trust any insurance company.

Aplan are good.. cup packs are a factory fitted extra as has been said, I went through this with Tesco it all comes down to the person you are speaking to on the end of the phones understanding of factory fitted extra lol

We don't charge any extra for Cup Packs, we add them under the modifications section to avoid any complications at the time of a claim but the insurers do not charge any extra for them.

Looking at your details (23 with 2 years NCb) I would expect I could get you a price between 750 and 850 fully comp.

I had this argument with elephant about the cup packs, thought I'd tell them to be on the safe side as from what people had said on here, I didn't think I'd get charged, but they couldn't seem to understand they were factory fitted and not a mod

i wouldnt both telling them. they only ask if it has "[SIZE=-1]been modified, altered or adapted from the manufacturers original specification". and cup packs are the manufacturers original specification plus you dont have to declare other optional extras like electric windows

..... think of it this way, some cars come with aircon, sunroof, electric windows over the standard version...... would you tell the insurance your car had aircon,sunroof or electric windows fitted as an option...

i was in almost the same situation as you last year. i was 24, 2 years no claims and points. direct line wouldn't transfer my insurance over to my 182 because of the cup packs so i tried green light and as neil said above mine came out at just over £700. bargain i thought.
