also is this link pipe need, is it because the difference between the 172's pipe and the 182's is, a different length, a different width or offset at a different angle?

The 182 manifold is a different length it doens't match up at the same place the 172 one does to the cat.

I think the best ide is to get a 172 cat cut to fit or get a bit of pipe made to fit.

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..
link pipe needs to be made, then you will need a 182 cat, which will have to be cut down (reweld the flange) so you can swap it for the link pipe come mot time. or go for a sports cat as the 'link'. ive got this to do next, pain in the a*se.

my bro has got workshop facilites to make a link pipe, why cant you use a 172 cat, then just make a custom link pipe linking the 2 together

Pretty easy to make the link pipe (i just cut down a janspeed decat) but we couldnt make the 182 cat fit for MOT time cos its too long and it would have meant hacking a bit out the middle which would result in damaging the internal crap.

182 cat for sale btw ;)

hassle hassle hassle...

it's an easy job! Drop subframe. 2-3hrs work. Taking the 172 mani off is the hardest part.

182 mani is a diff shape and length, You can fabricate your own link pipe providing it's the rite bore.

In the process mate. Spk to Chris 'n' Nic.

It's defo worthwhile. mines runnin just shy of the 190bhp mark. with a 182 mani it'll be much smoother.

how much for a 172 cat?

Got 2 of the double barrel type ones for sale.

Say 30 quid each ? I'd have to look into the postage costs.

182 one 40 notes again plus P&P

Going back to the topic, its easy to do as long as youve got someone who's a dab hander with a welder to do the cutting and shutting
