182 mpg?? also trip computer question!!

picked up my 04 plate arctic blue 182 on weds, fooooookin lovely car! Bn reading the manual and it says that the trip computer has 2 settings for measuring mpg: an average mpg setting, and a current mpg setting, however, on my trip computer there only seems to be one setting, average mpg, no current! Are everyone else's trip computers the same??

also what sort of mpg have people been getting? How accurate is the trip computer at predicting how many miles until next fill up?? mine seems rather optimistic!! lol

trip computer r fun . will tell ya u driving too fast averaging poo , need to fill up twice a week .........lol

my MK3 only seems to do current MPG and not average MPG

Probably not the same, but from memory, my trip computer goes:

Miles to date
Miles from last fillup
Miles to go
Average speed
MPG from last fillup
Miles to.. oil/filter change (I assume its service)

Dont rely too much on how many miles you have left in the tank, because once it goes lower than 1gallon left in the tank, it will display -- -- !!!

Its doesn't have instantanious readout the manuals wrong.
the trips quite accute it get its calculations from the injectected fuel quantity so it should be spot on. The fuel tank level indicator isn't to inaccurate the light should come on with 5 liters (1.1 gallons) left in it but the sensors tolerance mean you cna have 4 to 6 lites in the tank.

I did a test over somehting like 20k driving addding up the fuel the trip said it had burned (I used to leave it 500~1k before restting it so it was accurate) and the fuel till reciepts and it was amazingly accurate to 0.5%.
Infact the total burned was the same as what the trip said the only 0.5% error came in working out how much fuel was in the tank at the moment ie I'd put 5000 liter in the trip said it had burned 5000 liters and the only query was how much was in then and how much was in when I bought it.

best ive seen in the 182 has been 42.2mpg on the way back from picking it up! was quite impressed!

I'm averaging 31.6mpg for just over 6000 miles. This includes lots of blasts, city and motorway driving. Yet to recent the trip computer!

I used to average about 29mpg round town and 38 ish on the motorway in my 172 . Since i've got my new 182 i'm only gettin about 24mpg round town , just gone over the 1000 mile barrier so its still runnin' in , doesn't feel anywhere as loose as my 172 which was on 47k miles .

is it strange that i get the same fuel consumption as a 172 out of my 1.2? i get at the most 400 miles out of an 11 gallon tank which equates to 36mpg average! not worked it out exactly, thats just roughly!

I usually get about 35mpg according to the computer. Thats usually about 350 miles per tank
