182 much faster than a 172

the revision goes far deeper than just an extra 10bhp. revised suspension cosmetic changes gear ratio changes and ecu changes not to mention other minor revisions

If you have a silver 172 and get a racing blue 182, I think you will certainly notice the difference.

But if you have a black 172 and get any colour 182, then you wont notice any difference at all!

Ive done 600 miles and mine still feels bleedin slow and unwilling to rev. Just takes an age for the revs to build.

:D altho the brown/grey/black flip versions are the fastest!

7k here too Lee, and its much better then the 172

Its like the Valver - Williams thing, Valver you have to wait till 4.5k RPM for the power whereas with a Williams you get 80% of the power from 2.5k RPM the the other 20% kicks in at 4.5k RPM Its a much smoother delivery

Same with the 172-182 IMO

Overall the 182 is a much more refined car and more like the 172 should of been.

Knew it ... thank god for black.. lol

Its much better for blasting away the Chavs round town in there Corsas/saxos etc.

Whereas they stick to my rear in the 172 while its building up the revs, then suddenly it snaps your neck as it takes off at 4.5k RPM and they drop miles behind lol

but in the 182, you plant your foot and its off almost instantly, then again at 4.5k if they managed to keep up the 1st time

But if you get a Black 182 after previously owning a Silver 172, and before that a Flame Red 172, you will certainly notice the difference :p

I raced my mate in his 182 to my 172 and there isnt a lot in it, but i would say as quick as the 172 cup. But as said above the handling is superb, I bought my 172 cheap because the 182 was coming out, but if i had waited for 6 weeks i could have had a brand new 182 with all the cup packages for the same £12500 i paid for myne, gutted.

I had a silver172 and swapped for a black 182 miles quicker LOL, but it is a far better smoother drive than my 172 but i think a lot of that is down to the tyres and it seems better put together JUST!!!!

Yes there is, if you ever get to drive/own a 182 you will know this.

raced a silver 182 on the motorway.. i was gaining on him due to a better gear change, but had to let him go as he had a car coming up.. then we were dead even, he didnt pull away and i didnt gain on him.

This might sound like a stupid Question but What Size Engine is the 172? and just to confirm the Engine Size on the 182 as well i think im Getting Mixed up with them. What is the 2.0?

Cheers for answering that

is there a big difference between the 172 MK1 and 182 cos im getting a 182 next year and want to know if its much better cos my 172 is rapid.....

Are the exhaust changes just cosmetic? How did they get the extra 10bhp other than the better inlet manifold?...and finally can someone post some figures as to the differences in peak torque and hp between the 172 and 182.

It should give a few more hp but the 182 also has a better cat along with manifold work and new exhaust manifold.

The 182 I drove was slower than my 172:eek:. (had less miles on it though - 10000 vs 2000) Was a dealer demo car. For me, coming from a mk2 172, the biggest difference was in the handling....... 182 with Cup pack is far superior to 172 imho.
