182 Newbie

Hi all

Ive been checking out this forum for a looong time now and since Ive just ordered a 182 I thought it was about time I actually said hello!

The clio is supposedly arriving on the 25th of March, but Im already rocking in my chair with impatience. This has just been made worse by the fact that today Ive been to Renault Altrincham and layed my eyes on the exact car that Ive ordered (182 Arctic Blue with both cup options). My fiancee was taking the p!ss as I almost broke my neck trying to get out of my current car so I could take a closer look.

Ive seen a few 172s around here (Runcorn in Cheshire) but tragically no ClioSport stickers. Are there any peeps on here that would be nearby?

Anyways, Im looking forward to getting involved in some discussions from now on

dont hold you breath for your delivery daqte, mine has been put back countless times now! It started out being last week of Jan to dealer and now is 1st March!

Yeah Ive noticed a few of your posts and I know youre not the only one whose date has been put back. Thats why in my post I put supposedly arriving but I just keep telling myself it is going to arrive so the wait aint so bad

I checked with another Renault dealer today and when I asked about a 182 the guy says "ahhh you mean the 172?".... I then politely pointed out that the 182 was now in the country and he stared at me blankly before saying "...... Oh yeah! thats the one with (wait for it) 182 bhp?". I think Ill be taking my car to a different dealer for servicing once I get it

Thanks for the welcome, Ill be posting as many pictures of the car as Im allowed once I get it.

It was a result of your thread Paddy that I travelled to Altrincham today to take a look. The car looked very very nice indeed, I wish I had my camera for some sly photos. Im pleased with the colour and the wheels looked great. To be honest tho, Id be happy with any of the 182 colours or a 172/cup for that matter. Im a big fan of them all.

I think i made a mistake

After seeing more pics on here (Thanks guys) the cup alloys are growing on me.They look great against the black but i have ordered Arctic blue,still unsure if i like them or not against that colour.

Its p****d me off a little not being able to see a 182 in the flesh.I am still waiting to see one and have been back again today only to be told again "Any day now"...yawn yawn yawn

I guess the sensible thing to do was wait but despite being told my car will be worth tuppence at trade in without the cup suspension and that its going to handle like im driving on slick bananas without it im still looking forward to getting it,even more now after seeing the great pics

Since 75% of 182 buyers are going for the cup suspension option i guess i can enjoy being a bit different then !

Anyway Pete,from one newbie to another @your choice of car and colour

I know how you feel Funky, I ordered mine without seeing any of the colours and chose the solid Racing Blue, now I have seen the black gold and artic blue I love both of them and feel that i should have chosen one of them, but I havent seena racing blue yet, so I am just praying that I like my colour as much as I do the other two!

At last, Renault Swansea had their 182 demnonstrator in yesterday and after some haggling about appointment only test drives (salesman who I dealt with was not in), I got to drive it this afternoon. Only done 87miles so far and I could only have it for 10 minutes so only drove it quite slowly but it felt very nice.

The car is Black Gold with both Cup options, and I have to say looks awesome. Being new to Renault, I have no preconceptions of what to expect, but the wheels looked great, the colour looked great, it looked plenty low enough, and even the grey headlight surrounds dont look bad in the flesh.

Only hope the Racing Blue looks as good eh Dave??

Funky, I wouldnt worry too much mate.

The cup options arent going to be everyones cup of tea. I ordered my blue 182 without ever seeing one in the flesh either (I was always a Silver man before), but getting to see it was a big thrill. Im 100% certain that when you see your 182 or one the same, youll be over the moon and have no doubts! I thought the anthracite wheels looked really smart, but Id probably be just as happy seeing the standard wheels on it.

welsh182 I agree it looked nice and low. My mate was there in his new Fabia vRS and it looked like it was on stilts when parked next to the 182 . Hes now planning to get it lowered cos the clio looked so good.

Only hope the Racing Blue looks as good eh Dave?? im getting quite excited now and anxious at the same time, the fact that all the cars so far seem to be everything but ours is good if we want the colour to be sparse and it isnt a reflection of what otherpeople think so far because no one has seen it to say it isnt nice. calling it racing blue, it is only one of four colours, it isnt going to be bad, i still think it will look amazing. Jeremy Townsend has seen it with the cup suspension and he said it looked amazing, only 2 weeks to now though!

I think the Racing Blue will be awesome. From the colour sample shots Ive seen it looks like an exciting colour and when you combine that with an exciting car its going to be special .

After driving one today Dave, now I am exited, cant wait but got till 22nd March to get it. Freelander TD4 deisel for another month I am afraid as Golf off the road. I have seen the paint chip for Racing Blue and I am sure it will look great. Exclusive too as we seem to be the only ones here on order.

I think that this colour will be a bit more exclusive, like the cup colour was. As you said before, it will stand out as the Arctic Blue looks like a cup, the black and silver were already available in slightly different shades so the only one which will stand out is the Racing Blue.
