182 Re-Mapping

I`m looking at getting a re-map and 48,000 mile service done soon on my 182 and are planning to head down to K-Tec. Ive heard mixed stories about tuners claiming certain % increases and not actually delivering what youve been told. How true is this? Should I stick with K-Tec or can anyone recommend me anyone else?

and what have you got planned?

as said above RS tuning have a very good reputation.

My car is completely standard at the moment so I`ll be christening it with a re-map. Bearing in mind I`m in Surrey, Leeds is a little far for me

worth the journey mate.

if you plan on doing any other modifications then i'd leave the remap till last, it'l more move the power around than give you more.

Whats the point in a re-map, when you have nothing to actually, re-map?
Remap smooths the power curve and makes the car feel alot more pleasent to drive. Also improves MPG!

Will be more worth wile if you have mods to tweek the map too though.

Unfortunately not all of us have the obvious in depth, technical knowledge of a Renaultsport engine that you have. So instead of posting unnecessary sarcastic remarks just tell us, less informed members, so in future silly questions are not asked and perhaps we can then in turn pass on the stuff we have learned :)

Im actually waiting for JMS to get back to me as I`m not far from there. I emailed them last night. Im having a mare trying to find their website (if they have one that is). They rekon with a re -map and panel filter I`ll get 200bhp. Am I smelling something there lol

To get a genuine 200 bhp you are lookng at spending a lot of money. We are talking Throttle bodies, low comp turbos and superchargers.

aha flol thats crazy talk!

you would get 185bhp at the most with just that! thats if your cars running what it should aswel! tell them to sod off if their going to play that old game with you!

Well my car is running like a donkey cart at the moment at 166.7 bhp. Took it down Surrey Rolling Road. If i can get car back to near enough original spec I`ll be fairly happy with that

none of the 182's hit their book mark!

at the EA area rollingroad day not 1 182 got 182 lol

closest was a trophy 177 i think

mine got 168.8 with mods but it needs a re-map to help it all!

IIRC JMS tuning use the RS tuner for Remapping. IE just a general map not on rollers ect.
Personally i would just buy my own RStuner (fastchip) in this case. (or contact paul at RStuning see if his Rstuning box is ready)
Because then at a later date you will be able to modify yyour own maps ect.

Live mapping is always the best on rollers/Dyno ect.

(not trying to **** james (JMS) off just my opinion)

Just a note boys & girls, at no point did we quote 200bhp for the remap, not entirely sure where you got that figure as its crazy talk and we all know this.

The website www.jmstuning.co.uk makes this perfectly clear.

Both JMS cars have been RR'd at 181 & 184bhp, both are running decats, matched inlets, panel filters, CAFs & have had the RStuner based remap service carried out.

Hope that helps clear up the madness lol!

just to chuck my pennies worth in...my ph1 was totally standard apart from an open cone filter...i got james to do the fastchip map,then got it on the rollers at surrey rolling road and it made 177.2 at the fly...so if your cars totally standard you will get nowhere near 200bhp...speak to james or tom and they will give you the complete low down on mapping,its well worth doing..if only you get it mapped and leave the rest of the engine standard

Nice one thanks. Well i think Ill be goin JMS as I spoke with James on Saturday afternoon at SRR. Those boys seem to be more honest than down at K-Tec. (sorry K Tec but fooling prospective customers into this false information is not on)

Cant go wrong with JMS tbh

As for power, dont worry the 2.0 clio engine never makes its book output. 170+ is a strong result for a 182 on some accurate rollers.

If you are planning further mods though make sure you do the remap last to gain the most benefit

I've got the K-tec remap on my Trophy and it made a huge difference to Torque. Well worth getting IMO.

As said above you cant fault the JMS boys, had mine remapped by them last week and its amazing!!! The fact they are close makes it even better!!!
