182 sport turbo

  Megane coupe
right, i'm having my coupe going under surgery soon, i'm having a 182 engine put into her (but thats not enough)

i have been looking at the turbo conversions for the 182, but there is no way i am paying out 6k :dead: :quiet: :nono:

question is how much would i expect to pay if i was going to do this myself, buying the bits when i have the cash and having a go at fitting them myself!

i want to do it myself as it's more rewarding, but i'm not confident enough to have a crack at the conversion thats all :(

thanls for any advice and help Mr sport people!!
Yours

i have often thought the same but i wouldn't want to stirp the pistons rods and go through all that hassle as i would probably f it up.

  Megane coupe
so you would go for the piston and conrod change as well?

is it worth it and just run low boost? or put the pistons and conrods in and wack the boost right up (14 psi is safe i have heard)

haha, by that responce i presume you'd go for pistons and rods too - thats just bumped the price up :(

thanks mate - thats a great site! just browsing it now, not much on the turbo parts tho.....

they dont give much detail no boost level no performance figures and everything in euros probably indicates there not an english company wich mean going abroard for the work to be done.

netherlands just round the corner.

allthough sceptical it could be an interesting conversion.

tbh, i'd rather trust the K-tec conversion - it's been used and proved - with a few cars on here using the kit and having good results..... even tho expensive, i reckon i could do the work for under half the price!

saving my self £3g's still alot of money tho, be worth it tho, not only will it be the 1st coupe with a 182 conversion, but also a turbo!!

just hope funds allow lol

well i hope it goes well for you i would trust k-tec to do it but i cant justify 6k thats just too much money

With a low boost conversion you could run the stock pistons and rods, or if you used the k-tech setup you could uprate the rod bolts and just change the pistons saving some cash.
But rebuilding the bottom end is the problem.

They had a demo car at FCS...although I think that they specialise in 5's by the look of it. They also flyered the cars around CS...hence why I knew of their website!

Sounds good in theory but does that include a grand+ worth of stand alone to run it ?

Light pressure turbo kits are usually ponsified

i think i'm going to go for the k-tec kit, but buy the parts gradually and go piece by piece, have the engine in my garage and build it as i go along.... think thats the cheaper, and most easyiest way..........

anyone else ssuggest anything? and do i need the low compression forges pistons? or will any forge pistons be ok?

cheers
