182 stuttering on acceleration/backfiring

Hey Folks,

My '54 plate 182 has developed a bit of an issue over the past 24 hours...

Under normal/hard acceleration the car seems to struggle/stutter, and is also backfiring occasionally. The engine management light was on when I got the car as it has a Milltek decat exhaust on, but it's not on anymore. Sometimes it's fine, then it randomlly goes stuttery again. I've started running it on shell V-Power but I don't think that'll change much...

I'm sensing the answer is going to be 'take it to a garage' but wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar and it's a case of clean a sensor etc.

As above, i'd check coilpack and spark plugs, could water/rain be affecting the performance of the system?

I've seen it happen alot - including to my own car - with these symptoms and often a new set of decent plugs will solve a misfire, an old set just can't tolerate wet as well as a new set.

Just a thought.

Go to a mates or someone you know with a cliosport and do trial and error. I'd say it's the HT leads as you have the exact same symtoms as myself. But then again, they are expensive so make sure it is what it is before you start buying a thousands parts.

I have exactly the same issue plugged it in and has detected misfire in cylinder 2 so going to get a new set of plugs
