182 Trophy Exhaust Mount Swap - easy job ?

  182 Trophy
Hi. I've got a 182 Trophy and at its last service I was advised that the rear exhaust mounts will need replacing pretty soon. I was quoted £45 for each one and I thought that sounded a bit expensive. I can get the mounts from Renault for £44.32 delivered. Is it any easy job to swap thm out. Any specialist tools needed ? Sorry if somebody has already asked the same question as I'm new to the forum. Cheers

Piece off piss mate. x3 13mm bolts on each bracket iirc. Also (off memory) there is an 8mm nut at the end of each hanger, undo these first

Might help raising the rear more, but it really is pretty straight forward. The mounts adjust too, so you might need to tweek them slightly to get the tail pipes sitting better

^^ when placing the mounts; take in account that the exhaust expands about 5 mm when hot . the mounts should be positioned "neutral" so that the joint(s) is'nt touching metal even when expanding

Thanks, have you ever used NorthWestPerformance for any work on your car? They've given me a decent quote for cam and aux belt replacement.

Swapped the mounts last night and it was an easy job. Well, apart from one bolt that felt like it had been welded on. My Trophy now looks much better without a droopy exhaust. Thanks for all the advice.

It wont be long until it goes droopy again. I bought new mounts with my Milltek and within a weak they had already lost their strength.

We'll see how it goes. I had the previous ones on for 5 years so fingers crossed. Otherwise I'll be implementing the ingenious socket based fix that's documented in the forum.
