182 whine

Hi folks. I have had a read through similar threads but they never seem to mention if it has been fixed.

Basically my 182 has a whine from the belt side, noise increase with revs at idle and under load.

Alternator is brand new so isn't that.

A lot of mentions point towards the aux belt idler? Can anyone who has experienced similar confirm this before I buy a kit??
Or even if it has been something else at fault.

Could be the pas pump

It's more a bearing sort of noise than a PAS pump, steering doesn't affect the noise at all

the whine on my 182 was a pas pump. fitted a different unit and all was cured..

Make sure its done up to the correct tention first mate.

Is there a way to set them? I thought it was just a spring tensioner?

Probably the PAS pump. Was on mine. Fluid change helped it but it was utterly shagged by the time I decided to do something about it and the fluid had turned black.

no spring tensioner. U use the alternator to take up the slack by moving it in and out
