Im not in a hurry to buy one now i have a work van to run so i want to make sure i find one that has everything if not just about everything i want in one :). I have emailed a dealer in newcastle(6hour drive for me) who has a 11plate storm grey,i.d roof.recaros, black headlights but no cup pack sadly :(

Not benfield Renault by any chance is it? If so, there are some good lads in there. Ask for the renaultsport specialist lol. Can't remember his name but he's a young lad thats a great crack on :)

Leave a deposit? ;) it's only a couple of weeks :)

The RS specialist I was on about drives a focus st and was offering me test drives in vxrs and megane 250s when I went in to ask about clios lol. I think he just wanted to give me a go :p

  Ly Megane 230 F1
I thought about that but il wait till that week incase something else comes up :).

i wouldnt be hanging about driving them ;) haha id be in the clio and off for a nice 6 hour drive home

  Ly Megane 230 F1
Ive emailed to ask if there are any small scratches/dents,tax,if its had its first service etc so il see what he gets back with. Dont want to get a 13k car then have to pay for a service and tax straight away :/

  Ly Megane 230 F1
So have you settled for no cup chassis?

As that 200 doesn't have it

But projectors, speedlines and cup spoiler and that'd be awesome :)

I would settle for no cup chassis on that car because it has 90% of the spec i want and storm grey is just the cherry on top but....if i find another ff200 with all the spec i want then id leave the storm grey :)

I dont mind buying a cup spoiler or lowering springs if its not a cup model, getting the calipers powder coated or buying headllights but i dont fancy buying recaros for the price of them. Id buy a car with them fitted but i would find it hard parting with 1k-1.5k just for recaro seats

  Ly Megane 230 F1
lol, for the price of the spoiler, springs and powder coating you could buy recaros :rasp:

but i know where youre coming from :p

But thats over time :p haha. Il just see whats the most suited one at the time when im off for a week! im excited :p

The seats are worth every penny IMO.

Best money you could spend, rather than a spoiler etc.

Hold you in 1000X better than standard sears
look a 1000 X better than the standard seats.

Nothing worse than seeing a stunning 197/200 then be let down seeing it missing the recaros.

I don't see why a drivers car/ best handling hot hatch doesn't come with them standard.

THere are 5 back ends you can have on a 200

Plain- 5/10 looks bare

GT Spoiler 0/10 - GASH

Cup Spoiler 8/10 great from some angles - ugly from 1 or 2- but adds to the spec list

Eila Spoiler 9/10 this seems the best from all parties ( KTEC Supplied)

Hoop Spoiler 5/10 Not sure on this one-

S

You're broken.

Not only does the Cup spoiler look horrendously pikey, but it's not fitted at Dieppe. It's fitted at the import centre... by pikeys.

I've seen some that aren't even on straight! Lol.

Even Dieppe are embarrassed about their road cars leaving there with one.

because the reality is, although its a "hot hatch", probably 70% of people who buy these are normal people who use it to go the shops or drop the kids to school. They probably couldnt care less what the seats are, as long as they are comfortable. People forget that the enthusiasts who buy these cars are in the minority.

Not true. Especially in the UK.

Lol at pikey!

Do any of the spoilers get fitted at Dieppe?

GT Spoiler's factory fit as it requires a different tailgate and it's actually painted and fitted correctly.

I love the 'ducktail' one that KTEC sell as much as mine, but couldn't be arsed with getting it done after I took delivery.

They aren't in a minority, especially with such a 'cult' car.

I have seen quite a few being pootled round by oldies though, probably why they didn't stick a spoiler on it from standard as well.

Jessica Alba has an awesome arse. Would you put a shelf on it?

No.

Awesome had me in stitchs, although sometimes I think the spoilers don't look too bad but the one ktec do that chris mentioned is pretty nice. Was very close to getting one of those on me old 197

Thanks Chris, poor example tbh Dan.

No woman looks right with a shelf fitted.

some may lend themselves to it quite well

you reckon?

There are about 3k 197s in the UK (according to howmanyleft), they dont state the number of 200s, but as they are more popular i would imagine there are at least this many 200s kicking about too. How many of those 6k+ cars are driven by true enthusiasts who have a need for the uprated recaros, who spend their weekends doing trackdays or twisties, or who will get any benefit from them other other looking like a nice optional sporty extra?

How many 197 and 200 members are on here for example, showing their true enthusiasm? Maybe 50-100 tops? Same as on Pistonheads and 197.net?

Whilst it is an enthusiasts car, there is no way there are at least 3000 owners (therefore the majority) who see their car as anything beyond a set of nice wheels to get around in. If anything the majority of the owners i see in both the 197 and 200 are just yummy mummies with husbands who wanted to buy them something nice as a second car so they could nick it for a cheeky blast every now and then.

Renault would like to portray your view as the reality, but if this was the case and its all about pure driving enthusiasm, requirement for bucket seats etc, why only 550 trophies? Reality is they are selling to capture as much as the hot hatch market as possible, enthusiasts or not.

It's an extremely focussed product is what I'm saying. Mrs Billybob with her two kids won't be walking into Renault and ordering one.

You only need to visit Renaultsport forums or any of the many Renaultsport corporate track days to see that a higher percentage of enthusiasts own their products than housewives. If said enthusiasts didn't specify their cars for this type of driving, we wouldn't even have the option of Recaros or even the Cup variant on the 197/200. No demand, no option.

It's an enthusiasts' tool more than it's a shopping trolley. Simple really. Quoting figures out of the air or not, that's the truth.

What do you class as an enthusiast? Track day driving guru? owned a long line of renaults? has a Renaultsport jacket? post count of 10k plus on CS.net? I have none of the above but i have an interest in cars. So class my self as an enthusiast. I would imagine most Clio Sport owners have an interest in cars and haven't just picked it at random. Its very hard to depict what an enthusiast is, and with the Clio sport being a very niche market aimed car i would imagine most people went looking for them.

I'll agree with you there, there not the sort of car you just bump into an think "oh looks alright, I'll buy it". Alot of buyers will carry out alot of research before buying an buy for the performance factor. On the other hand I have seen a few people driving these cars that I just wouldn't expect (i.e I have seen a couple of local mothers carrying out the school run in 197's an a old chap round the corner has one) but nothing saying there not hardcore renault trackday nutters!

Im with Alanc and to define enhtusiast or not I would wager that there will be more people who refer to it as "my car" or "my clio" rather than "my 200" or "my 197" thats a crude but relatively effective way to tell, lol

You can spot the real 200 nerds as when talking about what they drive they will say "200 Silverstone #44" or something like that.

Seriously though, I should imagine most people buying them are into "sporty little cars" rather than specifically being renault obsessed.

See it all the time when you look at the trade ins before and after and its a Corsa VXR or a Focus ST etc, ie they like those sort of cars, but not too fussed about one specific brand

I can't imagine many mums have ended up with them after going into Renault asking for a family car tbh.

Fair play to the salesman if so!

Me neither but a mate of mine pointed it out when he said he thought he'd saw me an was waving frantically until he realised it was the woman from round the corner lol
