197 Engines

Hey my appologies with my last question that was a bit hostile, but now i need to ask some of you guys on here that im unsure of, will a 197 engine fit into a MK1? If so would it just be things like looms and mounts?

Basically my dilemma is i have a mk1 1.4 without an engine and i want something thats equilvilant such as it will fit in the bay without high modification, preferably a renault engine.

Why not a 172/182 engine, would be much cheaper i'd imagine.

not without major moddification, Audi 1.8T engine fits, as does the clio 16v/wiliams engines and the 172 engine

get the 172 engine, reliable, quick, readily available and not so much of a headache to fit.
