197 or 182??



  Renaultsport Clio 182
Better at what?

The 197 is bigger, newer, better quality interior, better handling and better ride.

The 182 is noticeably faster, better equipped and gives more feedback to the driver.

182 is faster, feels more fun because of lower handling limits, so you can push it at sensible speeds. You only feel the better handling of a 197 if you are pushing harder. But the 182 get spanked on build quality, refinment, ride quality, and probably brakes as well. Still prefer 182 for the fun factor, can't see any reason to choose a 197 of a Meg230

182 imo, but depends what you're after in a car. The 197 is newer, bigger and more refined. The 182 feels more lively and fun.

depedns what you want as a drive... ive had 3 renault emplyees say to me already that they loved the 197, but were bored after 20 mins cos its far to easy to control, it was no fun compared to the 172/182

Personally I couldn't live with the daft steering on the 197 or the shortness of 6th gear.

Other than those two points I prefer it to the 172. (I suppose the 197 could do with being a little quicker though!)

i have a clio 182 cup but i haven't drove the 197 was just wondering if it was worth getting the 197. have you drove the 225 F1, i thought that was a bit boring?

Drive the 197 and see if you like it. Has good points and bad IMO.

Loads of grip, great composure but lacks steering feel and fun. Like you found with the 225, I found it boring.

Taking price out the 197 is the better car, the question is, is it worth the extra to you?

Go out and test drive them both, then you will know for sure

182 for me :) . Not keen on the looks of the 197 , just looks very very plain to me .
 
197, its miles ahead of the 182 in terms of equipment and comfort, but mile behind it in terms of driver involvment

Maybe it is in terms of comfort . But what extra equipment do ya get ?? Bearing in mind all the equipment was standard on the 182 , no optional equipment and cost like the 197 ;)

172/182!!!!!!!!! 197 looks like an olds man car, doesnt stand out at all!!!!!!

Try to drive a 197 like your 1*2 and you will be nonplussed. It runs out of puff long before it should, then bounces off the limmiter.

IMO forget it. Spend your dosh modding your 1*2, or if really flush get Megane 230. You don't need a crystal ball to see that the 197 will never
have the following of the1*2s.

its not that bad its just that we will never see the likes of the 172/182 steering nowadays.

as for speed its so comfy and insulated you dont feel its only marginally slower.

rstuning remap ITG filter and some inlet manifold work (£500`ish) im sure that 195 can be massaged to 205hp/170lbft which is exaclty as it should have been.

but im sure soon they will get bored of yellow and bring a white one out with an LSD and more power yum yum
