197 or 200 Cup

Hi,

I am currently driving a Seat Leon 2.0 TDI FR with DPF, I am contemplating getting rid of it due to only doing 70 miles a week these days and swapping it for something like the 197 or 200 Cup.

I am on average putting £10 in a week for fuel and getting 65 miles for it, however on longer jounerys i defo see the difference and correct figures. I am wanting to change because sooner or later i think the DPF will fail due to short journeys and its not got long left on warranty.

What sort of return could i expect from a 197 or 200 cup mpg wise?

Are they good everyday cars to live with or should i consider something else?

Wouldnt say i am worried, im only getting about 33mpg now from a TDI, which is poor :) just curious to know if it will be around what i currently get if you know what i mean

If you drive up and down motorways all day then you MAY get 30+ish . If you mainly do urban driving like me (Leeds), then dont expect anything over mid 20's.
Ive had a 197 for 2 years and now a 200 for 10 months and both are the same.

On a motorway run I get 33-35 mpg in my FF 200.

In town anywhere between 22-28 mpg.

Thats driving her nicely...

Both about the same. They both seem to improve MPG wise though the more miles you put on them.

A colleague has a brand new 200 which does about 27mpg. Another one has a 59 plate 200 (business car with 20k on the clock) and he manages 35.

Out of the two I would get the 200 cup - Better drive

should that not be better drive on the track? its not as if you can push them hard enough on the road to judge? or is it less roll'y etc? I'm not trying to start an argument I actually would like to know as I've never driven a 200

Better drive in everyday driving, much more low down grunt, feels that little bit more urgent. The cup pack is also firmer with a little more feel.

Mine is the total opposite to this. The first 12k i averaged 32 mpg, and saw a max of 35 and never saw it drop below 30. Then i went and had it seviced and now i struggle to get over 30 and average 28. The funny and strange thing is i really crammed the miles on quickly in the first 12k and was doing way more than i expected and since having the car serviced i have driven more than i did before but the miles seem to be going on the car a lot slower. Might just be me but it all changed after the first service.

To get a fair idea of cost of running a 200 i would say on average for every £10 i put in i get 56-60 miles. That is driving pretty normally with short journeys, country lanes and some motor ways.
