Pick it up from oxford next weekend hopefully :D

payed £700 which sounds alot but when you look what they are going for its a good price for such a solid 3dr non sunroof example

Born the same year as me lol

What year did they stop mk1's? I saw an A reg Mk2 golf today which I thought was slightly odd because I thought the mk2 was newer than that,

1983 they stoped the tin top version, cabrios went on many years after

some 1984 mk1s and some 1984 mk2s

Quality stuff!

What you planning on doing to it? Bringing it back to it's a former standard glory, or taking the DUB euro look?

striping it back to a bare shell, get rid of all the sound deadening and replacing with new, any welding etc required

respray

going with a black and rellow theme, not going euro just nice and subtle, some dished 14" wheels or something, quite a few ideas but it will evolve as i go on

Sounds good :approve:

I've always had a soft spot for MK1's. Good luck with it all :)

not sure, they were the pics that i was sent, i think it was a barn find, so i assume the guy had a collection, or they were taken at crazy quiffs which is where it is now, but doubt they would have that many on site

I've been on the lookout for an old VAG. Undecided for over two years now. Still searching for the right one :(

Good find for you though! Good luck with the project!!

had a propper think about what im going to do with it and what direction its going to go.

i was going to make it propper old, brown weave interior, series 1 clocks, small bumpers etc, but its not a series one and never will be so it will only be a fke if i do that to it,

so gti bumpers, smooth series 2 dash, custom clocks, split rim 14" wheels, low, yummy ness

If your making it into a track car then that would be quite cool. Dropping in a decent engine and making it ubber quick, but just restoring it to boggo standard FTL.

you say custom clocks...

i saw a mark 1 where the clocks were stitched into the panel which normally houses them, it was a single piece of material with the clocks stitched in, probably one of the nicest mods i have ever seen

yeah , seen that was amazing, makybe something like that, not sure, just dont like the standard clocks lol

JME: £700

My mate had one of these.

£40,000 later and its PROPER quick. Mint too.

I'd love to have the space to store/refurb one.

Thats just crying out for a 1.8T lump, mates got a silver 5dr one with a 225bhp version ini it you'd never know it wasn't standard engine wise for looking at it proper sleeper.

already got one 1.8t lump, want something different, something that i can rev the back side off, :D
Few ideas in the pipe line,

aim to have it on the road at least 90% done by next summer :D

Although it does have 12 months MOT so i could in theroy just drive it now. thats not the idea tho :)
