1Yr - 12k Miles & 1st Service Later

11 months old & had 1st service this morning - For what its worth heres my opinion on my Silver 53 plate 172...........

Firstly service - 12.4k miles, supplied my own Shell Hellix Ultra fully synthetic 5W40 along with Wynns oil flush. Oil & Wynns flush = £37, I handed over £126 to Renault dealer - no probs reported & none found. Discs, pads & front tyres all ok, Prob get to about 15k-16k miles before new tyres.

Love the car, still puts a smile on my face and touch wood its been reliable (I might regret saying that !) I "bedded" it in for the 625 miles & have given it some stick since however always after a good 15-20 mins warmup from cold, Only ever used Super Unleaded and Shell Optimax (mainly Optimax) but will be using Optimax all time from now as I get a consistent 2mpg more.

Basic mods arround Easter time I thinks, Silvervision, Filter, Zorst, Springs etc

Half leather seats - Smart & very comfortable

Its looks, IMO its best looking hot hatch ever (well I would say that)

Fuel Consumption v Performance is taking the p*** - 37/38mpg wtf?

Brakes are awesome

Moans

Too much body roll (will sort out soon)

Tram Lining on certain surfaces is annoying

Front wipers have a mind of their own



To be honest I dont give a sh*t about the rattles etc, I knew about them before I bought it, Couldnt care less in fact. I even dont mind the driving position which many others seem to mention. For the money theres nothing else that interests me in the slightest

Excellent cars imo. The steering wheel touches my leg when turning thats the only gripe, but I am quite tall, but you get used to it and find a way round it.

Your tyres lasting pretty long arnt they Rich

Re. mpg - perhaps the fuel computer calc is wrong ? Strange thing is I get same mpg regardless of how I drive it BUT I always get more mpg with Optimax, Its seems to run smoother as well.

Front tyres - Yeh Im surprised, Ive done a few standing starts as well, I always assumed theyd need changing arround 10k, Hopefully theyll get me through to March when I plan to do my mods.

How much more is Optimax compared to normal and super unleaded?

i think about 6p more a litre, but could be wrong as I never buy the normal stuff.

I just filled up with optimax and paid 87.9PPL.
