2002 172 Remap and Plenum match.. Can anyone help ?

I was looking into getting a new matched inlet plenum thing on my car (a 2002 172) and a remap for the ecu.

Would anyone be able to point me in the correct way to sourcing these things ?

As i aint 100% sure what i'm looking for :S

Does anyone know how much more power these would give me on my 172 ?

The mods that it currently has is a K & N Panel filter with no acoustic valve and an uprated air feed from lower grille and it also has a Decat Stainless Exhaust System.

Thanks

Richard :)

angelworks for the inlet matching and RS tuning for the remap . 5-10bhp , more torque and better feel on the road .

on top matey

you can do an exchange with the inlets and i've heard about getting the remap software sent to you too .

So what power would i have approximately ?

Yeah i heard you can put a deposit down on top of the retail price for a Remapped Ecu and you get it back from them when they receive your standard Ecu in Return.

I take it these are set ReMaps- by that i mean the same for all 172/182's ?

And don't take into account your own mods :dapprove: unlike ones remapped to each individual car which i suppose would be unique:) and matched to the mods.

Aint heard of exchange inlets :(

How much extra are you on top of retail price to do the inlets on exchange old for new basis ?

from angelworks you can get the matched inlets for £270, and get 100 quid back once you send your standard ones back to them.

You're best off getting the inlets then getting a custom remap for all your mods. I'd say you'd have around 185 bhp, which is pretty good considering a 172 is 160-165 std.

Cheers mate

How come some 172/182's push out 190 bhp ?

Is that with a 4 to 1 manifold added or more ? :S

1*2s aren't very consistant in terms of power. for example you put 2 std 172's on the same RR, one might make 162 and one might make 167.

you might be lucky :) not much difference though tbh

Ah ok.

Good old Renault eh ?

With each car being a hit or a miss with power:dapprove:

I can get matched inlets in Holland, but what's best to do.

Inlet manifold only or Inlet manifold + plenum?

What have you guys done?

benR does both , which is recommendable , though some ppl dont really notice much difference especially 182 owners as their inlets are already better than 172's

Ok thanks,

Is it possible to check if you have a good or bad cast inlet? removing from engine and measuring? What size should it be? Inlet to engine is easy, but inlet to plenum?

BTW this week I cleaned my throttle valve (electronic throttle valve) and saw the inlet to the plenum isn't that nicely finished either. Is this reworked also on the matched inlet/plenum?

Ps. sorry D1CKY for using your topic.

  Exige S1 + Honda S1
shame you dont have a phase 1 cause im selling matched inlet and manifold in the for sale section

  Megane 2 GT 165
ph1 and ph2 172 don't have the same inlets? I thought only the 182 was different....shame on me :)

Sorry now I see the throttle body (valve) is included, that won't fit for sure

Anyone any ideas how much it'd be to get both the inlets matched ?

And if i'd be better to go to a specialist to get my remap suited to car, or does anyone know if the preset remaps on ecu's on an exchange basis you can get sent to you are a good set up ?

Rich, Give angelworks a buzz, but chances are ben'll be playin catch up what with a recent injury. He's a busy lad.

There's no where else that has a clue about porting inlets unfortunately.

Remap...ermm...RStunin in leed's but it's 4hrs from glasgow so silly for you to make the trip. Superchips in glenrothes or there is a place in aberdeen too...Justin went there.

RS tuning in general is pointless! Lesson learn'd

Hello Holland !

I've discussed this with the guy who sells them in Holland, he's from around Utrecht . I thought his price was too high especially compared to the known quality of Angelworks. I´m thinking of getting them done by Angelworks and get them by post it will still be cheaper !?
He´s also on marktplaats , compare the prices!

If you have a regular 172 it will probably be worth it as most have poor manifolds, my cup is already so fast i´m thinking i already have a good manifold from factory, the ones marked with RS seem to be the good ones.

good luck , wel de moeite waard denk ik hoor

Could it be Wallace Performance in Aberdeen Justin went to mate ?

And why is RS Tuning pointless ?

Anyone know if superchips in Glenrothes are any good ?

From what i'm led to believe all the 182's and some of the very late 172's have the RS manifold . Thats why people seem to see more gains on the 172 manifolds as they aren't as good as the 182's .

Had the Vee Mapped there, very impressed! (Falkland performance)

No it wasn't wallace performance.

RS tunin....alot of money for very little gains.

Ali, you do chat an enormous amount of horse s**t son. RS tuning have seen some really good results to be fair, and pretty much any tuner can port RS inlets. If you want them doing really well there's FAR better people than AWT etc who will actually provide real before and after results.

Sorry if i have missed it in this post but does Angelworks send you just the modified plenum for £270 ?

Or both ?

By that i mean plenum and lower inlet manifold bit with RS on it ?

Hillpower does that matching I think. Spoke to him about it a while a go. Said could do matching and rolling road fuel timing/mapping for around £500 which seemed good.

Lol, i've seen another tuning companies attempt at porting inlets...I could of made a better job wi a dremmel!
I was happy with the gains and work provided by ben! Least he's an engineer! And not a businessman/fitter.

Best give him a bell, you can do as an exchange if he has one, but failing that you'll have to send him both parts. Means your car is off the road for about a wk or so

Totally disagree with the line ''RS tuning in general is pointless''

Its expensive to tune them compared to turbo applications but thats it. There are good gains to be had out of them if the jobs done right.

If I had an RS marked inlet I personally wouldn't bother getting it ported may take off the casting marks/swarf but leave it at that

Jesus, why you always looking for an argument mate?

How so?? I spent about 2k and got 21Bhp....Which is barely noticeable in reality. For the sake of doing it, sure fire on...But is it worth it in the grand scale of things?? Nahhh!

What if i managed to find one of these 182 manifolds in a scrappy.

Would it fit straight on my 172 ?

Meaning are all the bolts in correct place etc etc
