'Investigating' FLOL.

If they're that arsed, buy the oil/filter from TPS, thats where they get them from, after all.

I'm confused. It's a nearly new car with a warranty. Why can't a main dealer do it? Are Audi dealers really that pants?

I'm not sure if I bought a brand new car, an RS3 at that, that I'd want to take it to a specialist at this point of its life.

For just an Oil & Filter, Audi's pricing is a joke but thats part and parcel with having an RS model I suppose.

I'm sure you could barter off a couple dealers off against each other?

This is exactly why dealers get away with charging the prices they do... people being scare mongered into taking their cars to the manufacturers garages to be absolutely ball fucked into paying the prices, needlesley into the bargain!

By all means buy the parts from them directly, but like f**k would i have them fitted there. 1000 miles old or 100k old.

The story Audi told a pal of mine about how having her Audi TT serviced by Audi and only Audi was book worthy. Hard back copy book worthy.

You're probably right about resale. Its just an absolute joke!

Expecially considering the muppets a lot of dealerships have working for them!

I'll lucky, I've got a dealership a five minute stroll from my office, with an ST enthusiast on the main desk who makes sure my car is looked after, not washed, and the dashcams are always left running. Not had a bill from them that's been anything other than very very reasonable too. My ST will be one owner with full Ford stamps when I come to let it go.

RS or M tax is a killer! As said, that's part of the price/pain of ownership.

I know what you mean 10000% but its much the point @MarkCup made after that is the issue.

I'd look at it come selling time (if owned) and know that people would be expecting Audi and only Audi stamps.

I remember getting the ST serviced by Ford last year - £119 all in which was Oil, Filter & Cabin filter and that important stamp - Bargain!

Being an Audi RS though, I doubt set menu pricing would ever be on the menu 😂

That's why buying a 5 year service plan for £1050 was an easy choice for me.

One of the easiest choices to make!

I was looking at m140is recently and was a bit shocked that for the price of a few nights out you could have 5yrs/50k of stamps and services and oil top ups gratis. The extra £2k for other consumables (wiperblades and brakes I think!) was a bit steep, but the basic 'give me a dealer stamp in the book' bit was an absolute no-brainer.

Yet looking at the used baby m cars, 1, 2, and 3 years old, maybe only 1 in 10 say they have the service package. Because ex-rentals?

That's the issue with those plans. 5 years or 50k miles. In both cases you only get 2 services. Which is a bit of a kick in the balls when an oil change and an inspection cost you £535 each.

Audi have caved in and mated my specialists quote. Oil change and inspection for £165.

Cheeky £225 saving over their best quote of £385.

Well it will be more than 2. 3 at least because of the stupid running in service.

that's a result then. How much investigating you getting the car done at a specialist did they do.

Did they juts ring them up and ask for a price.

They just called them to ask if they were using genuine parts. Which they were, as it says on both the quote I sent and all the website literature.

Old man had his Aston serviced only by Aston until warranty finished. Then Fred did a service. Air filter had never been changed. Had the date of when the car was purchased stamped on it.

I'm not sure thats quite right mate?

I'm just going off what it says on Halfords website:

Since block exemption legislation was introduced in 2003, Halfords Autocentres has been able to carry out servicing using Original Equipment (OE) equivalent parts, which ensures your warranty is protected.

Or kwik fit. There's a thread on m3 cutters where one guy on there was quoted something daft like £500 for an oil service and someone piped up with "I bought genuine parts and took it to kwik fit for them to do the service".

Bet that kwik fit stamp looks good in the service book of his E92 M3.

If its accompanied by the receipt for the parts, i personally wouldn't give a s**t.

The simple fact is, a car like the RS3 has to have full Audi history. Rightly or wrongly that's what it needs.
Sell it privately, it will affect the value.
Trade it in, see above.
Try and sell it to a dealer, see above.

I don't buy a car like that unless it has full main dealer history, not because it's a personal thing but because one of the first questions I get asked about any car like that is 'does it have full X history'.

People are so hung up on full service history ffs, aslong as their is receipts for the work and been done at a garage then who cares

I bet the work is more s**t at a main dealer than a independant/specialist

99% of the general public.
I agree that the end of the day it's the person who does the service not the garage but it will always be the same perception that a car with main dealer history is better than one without.

It's f**king stupid.

lol what a sorry world we live in. I had an insight into the Mclaren factory yesterday. Somethings are just better left unseen.

In general, i find that the only way to know a job has been done properly is to do it myself.
The M3 will get serviced at BMW, purely for resale. Hopefully ill be able to buy the oil (ECP) & parts (from Cotswold BMW), then pay my local dealer the labour for the service/stamp. With a new RS3, id be going to Audi, again, purely because the general public are under the misguided impressed that main dealers are experts.
