Lol at tracking an haldex 4wd estate/hatchback, that's nearly as bad as ring times.

I did look at an Golf R estate but it does feel £10k cheaper and I don't want that image for my work car. Plus 4 exhausts is just silly...

Like I said the RS3 100% not a sports car, no where near. It handles like a 2.0tdi with a load of power. Then again it'll spend most of its time with me as an outside lane warrior or stuck in a field.

I reckon most RS3 owners would argue with you there!

No you won't.

Youve been talking about owning a fast Audi ever since I've known you and the closest you got is that red golf tdi.

Go and grow some baws.

You cut me deep Colshe, real deep.

Hopefully in the next 18 months it'll happen if the previous gen (2011) RS3's drop to around 20k it'll happen. I just love the booze and women too much, i could have bought one outright with the partying i've done in the last two years. :tired:

So you'd be better looking, driving an rs3,and there would be dozens of women not having night terrors?

If they don't they are delusional. It's not like an M car, it's not a lap weapon, it's not even an evolution of the Quattro rally car.

It's just an all weather A to B rocket, designed to be safe and cover ground to quickly. It's a long way from things like an Evo for fun.

People buy them for the wrong reasons and then defend them for stuff they are s**t at.

If you want track or fun don't buy a turbo 4wd hatch back lol.

I only wanted it for that engine and the fact it's cabin quality is miles ahead of anyone else, then again for the price it should be!

It's the difference between what people look for when buying a car to actually live with, versus what Chris Harris etc judge a car on. As an all weather, usable performance car, I've no doubt it'll be nicer to live with than an m2 etc

Absolutely agree with your thoughts on the RS3.
Safe, well built & devoid of any real character.

Lovely noise on downshifts in dynamic mode though!
For what you use it for, good choice of car.
For what I want from a car, I'd rather my megane 250!

Yeah exactly, if I want genuine fun I'll take the GP out.

If I want to make noise and look flash I'll take the F type.

If I want to take my mates to the casino in the rain I'll take the audi.

How much is the company car tax on this, or have you worked something out with your company.?

I had a look at our scheme yesterday and it was about £425 a month in cc tax if you're a higher rate payer, £215ish lower rate.
All in it was £895 a month for a 4 year lease through the company at higher rate tax, that includes the cc tax, insurance, everything maintained, no deposits or anything etc. Add on another fifty or there abouts to drop it to a 2 year lease.

Titty f**king christ this thing goes. Nice to be able to use all the power when its only 3.5 degrees outside.
It's that weird wave of boost feeling. The bemused look on a Boxster drivers face as a dull hatchback goes past is great.

It does feel a little laggy which I like, pin foot, wait, waaaaaaaaaaa.

Along with all the noise, its like the F type crossed with an A3.

Mate I won't have all 3 for long. Just waiting for the weather to warm up so I can sell the Jag. I have like £90k on finance at the minute...

Pretty much what I thought/have read in reviews.

No one buys an RS3 because they want a DC2 alternative. Looks really cool though, great spec.

Was there any consideration for trading the F Type in for an XE Supercharged 3.0 V6? 335BHP, amazing noise, well equipped, stealthy etc. or was it Audi alllll day?

Wanted 4WD matey. Plus I don't want to deal with Jag anymore..

  330i. E30 Touring.
Does it have wider tyres on the front than rear still, or has something been tweaked of late?

Not a dig, just a question..

Wider fronts are still an option yeah. Mine has equal width all round, to make tyre buying easier and a lot cheaper!

Ah was just wondering! I had one for 24 hours and it sprung a leak lol.

Lovely car btw and sorry to hear new job wasn't for you (its those Oryx cowboys  )
Ha it was for me, but the old place offered me more money to go live in the cheap north again.... No brainer.

Well well. My default anti-Audi troll/dislike stance has actually been put on hold. From the pictures you've posted, I do actually like that. Is there the slightest hint that they are looking more lairy too? If so, that's a good thing!

Even more - you've recognised it for what it is - a very potent A-to-B car and not the next 'must have' purchase for the standard Audi buyer. I still think most buyers would be drawn in for the kudos of the badge/management meeting discussions/yes Mr. Neighbour - it's better than your A3 TDi conversations. Yet there's a chance that this car will do well of its own merits and not just because it's had a marketing behemoth pushing it ahead.

Front on there look like a mini RS6 which I like, on the other hand to its restrained enough not to look daft in the company car park.

Interesting you bring up marketing, I was only talking about this the other day.

If you look at the Focus RS/BMW M2 marketing its all track work and drifting based. Then look what Audi did for the RS3:

Vid 1 - RS3 born - Typical Audi mad Advert
Vid 2 - RS3 driving in a forest
Vid 3 - RS3 driving on ice
Vid 4 - RS3 driving through water

No marketing videos even had a road in them, let alone a track. It's a all weather hyper hatch.

It was only Autocar and PH who took it to Angelsey.

The looking daft part in the company car park wouldn't bother me one bit - especially if it was focused to do a specific job. I'd be the type of person who would drive a Caterham R500 to work and park it up. If it rained - meh. It will be dry tomorrow..... ;)

Yeah - I noticed some of those videos too. The forest and ice bits are certainly a nod back to how it all began. All we need now is an RS3 Plus with bucket seats and be devoid of 100kgs of interior furnishings and toys. As more focused Audi appear to be of late, I don't think too many of their market would do without their creature comforts.

Most Porsche and ferrari owners won't be without creature comforts these days.
