isnt the gearbox too long, so you need to use the 172 gearbox?
no the bell housing is bigger/ different bolt spacing on the meg hence why its a fcuker to get in the 172 bay...

same reason you cant fit the 6speeder to the 172

I really love to see it done!

As people have said, anything is possible with the money/time/skills

Would need to be Tuned also to 270 BHP+ to make it worth while.

Sounds like a plan tho, LSD............. and 1.2 16v badges a must.

This is merely just scoping to see if anyone has done it, what would be required etc, I have the time and available skill from people i know, just need a starting point.
The tuning would take place after the transplant...... nothing worse than planting an engine after doing things to it only to find it was the the thing you did to it being the reason it wont start.

SO more info please, the more the better, problems people had whilst trying to do it, Things that put people off. it all helps

I am not interested in putting a 1.8t engine into it being honest i may as well turbo the same lump I have if that was the case, so that off the cards

Yet you'd be happy to struggle into the unknown and try and fit a Megane lump in :S

Vag 20v turbo lump has been done before in a Clio. Tons of tuning potential. Reliable, same dimensions as the F4R, the list goes on.

If the aim is to be the first to fit a 225 Megane lump in a Clio then fair play but if its simply a big power turbo lump your after then dont overlook the Vag lump.

1.8 T is the way to go - more reliable - easier to tune - cheaper - more performance parts available - more potential

trust me i looked into dropping a 225 lump in my clio before i did the TT clio

Quickets FWD lump at last years Ten of the Best (in a Golf gti) was it not? seeing off all the C20LET Vauxhalls etc

First and foremost, This is merely an investigation into how easy it would be, what would be involved,
Further more i hardly think it is appropriate calling people N00B's for merely asking questions and stating i dont want to stick a VW engine into my clio,

1. It may have been done before or not - Its not for me
2. I had the oppertunity of getting a smashed f1 engine for 600 quid, so thats why, I still may purchase it to sell.

I respect the fact that you may have done the VW transplant but you need to respect the fact that i dont want to do it. I am well aware of the tuning potential of the VW engine, but tbh i may as well buy a golf and do it to that.
