Renault want 380 + VAT of my hard earned!!!!

Are they having a laugh or what?

You know what they do for that? Change the air, fuel & oil filters, the oil, spark plugs. Then they check all the cv gators, shocks, brake pads & discs, all lights and bulbs. If anything needs replacing then its extra. Oh and plus VAT which is 445 quid! tw*tnuts!! My warranty is probably void anyway cos of all me mods so I will get my mechanic friend to sort it out for £110 + parts so will be easily half the cost with genuine Renault parts. at least I will have the security of knowing he wont go for a road test or put cack oil in!

Anyone had this service yet?

aaaaah do you know which one Tom? I asked them if it was the cam belt and they said nah, all they told me was the stuff above.

They need a belt across the face!!! Im sure I can change an alternator belt!! (?) O yeah its a Renault, they probably need to drop the engine out or suttin? Theres no air con to check or nuffin so it cant be that?

Mine didnt need a belt at 24k. Now on 33k, and my 36k service is £129 from the AA.

Stuff Renault! :)

Aircon compressor belt? Looking forwards to shelling out for that! NOT

thats seems a little expensive to me, thats the sort of price you pay for a 36k service from Renault, not a 24k service!

Hamster wheel belt??? Oh no thats 36K! They just feed him at 24K that stops the squeeks!!! :p

can someone confirm that the belt (thats ANY belt) DOESNT need changing at 24?

Oh, and spark plugs too? im sure thats 72,000 miles?

the belt on my mk1 172 was changed just before its 26k service it cost about 250 quid though i argued and haggled as and got the price down. Apparently the cost is down to them having to remove the driver side top engine mount to get access

Shouldnt be any belts at 24k. Even at 36k the accessory belt isnt mandatory. Some dealers might tell you that it is (which is an additional cost on top of the already expensive 36k service) ... but according to the excellent service guy at Linningtons in Pompey (where the esteemed Mike172Sport works) it should only be changed if necessary. To that end I had Mike check out my accessory belt and it didnt need replacing.

Have heard various rumours about why its expensive to have the accessory belt change incl. bumper off job. If its just top hydraulic engine mount that needs removing then thats dead easy to do ... took about 20 mins to replace mine so shouldnt add much to the bill.

Just had 24k service....no belts changed £160 including a wash, the brakes needed doing but got them from K-Tec...nasty squeeling things!

Ive just had my 24k service from the renault dealer in Wrexham (speedsix) - £174.50 inc vat, a wash and an interior valet.

these service prices are getting stupid! guess its there way of paying off the warrenty work they do or summat along them lines

What about when you come to sell it?
Would you buy a performance car without a full service history?
i certainly wouldnt.

im having mine done locally for 100 all in. No belts are needs on this service it is the same as the 12k service i have been told. Plus the garage is vat registered and they are using genuine renault parts so i do not void the warranty in any way...new law by the way guys you dont have to go to reanault..the only thing is if you needs a new engine for example f you have it serviced by renault they may give you 85% of total but without they may give you 80%..but its worth the risk in my opinion!! plus the garage is using fully synthetic oil which is better than the renault crap they use!!!

yes I got quoted £380 from reno Ilford! na I found a renualt/lancia specialist in Bishops stortford did 24k for £168 ice wiper blades!! reno= rip off

If the accessory belt were to snap, then would it knock the cam belt out too?

Ive seen this happen on a laguna, one of the belts snapped causing the cam belt to be knocked out, ended up needing a new head! Cost alot more to get fixed than replacing a belt!

I got my 24k done at Renault Leeds, cost about £200inc VAT & I had the rear pads done which came to £270ish.

They told me that the 36k serverice was £300inc VAT. So God knows where that price they gave you came from.

Thats ridiculous! I thought my Mk 1 was bad cause I had to take the wheel off to do the alternator belt. Why the hell dont they make cars serviceable anymore?

Oh yeah £££

If it snaps then its Renaults fault, if you get the services done at the times stated at a dealer then they cant blame you......

I had a belt replaced at 7k under warranty; I have no idea what belt, a tensioner? The car sounded like a diesel engine, anyone know what this would have been?

Think my 24k service was about 170.

The only difference as far as I understood it was that they change the air filter as well??!!

They are talking out of their arses.

Dont want to make you feel bad but I have had my car serviced up to 36k and I have not paid more than £200. Services were all at a Main Renault dealer.
