suprised about a 1.8t lump would of thought he'd of gone for the 2.0t lump just as tuneable as the 1.8 lump. Looks farkin ace tho

  Something worth driving.
1.8T lumps seem to be the best to go for, for a lot of cars, look at Matt's Clio TT. Presumably it's very sturdy and can handle decent power without needing to change internals.

  Crappy work hire car
Never understood the attraction with the Mk.2 Golf, very ugly cars IMO but liking the power in this one.

  GTD, Lupo
I would imagine that to buy a 2lt would be a load more than an old 1.8t

Chris

Yeah the 1.8 lumps are common as muck. Hundreds out there for very little money but the 2.0 lumps have only started to be used in standard cars within the last 5 years or so, would cost a lot more to get you hands on one. BAM engine plus map can get 260-280 bhp for very little money with a map. Only issue is traction. My mates Leon only has a map so about 260bhp but its horrible to drive. Just spins the wheels all the time. Sure it can be sorted woth better rubber.

AGU is the one to go for ( big port head )

330 bhp is very easy to achieve with a 1.8T

Heres some of my mates motors with 1.8T conversions -

Jordy's scirocco 550 bhp + 150 gas

Most if not All of the 2.0T motors are FSI direct injection. Direct injection means your going to need a new high pressure fuel pump to acheive massive gains as the OEM simply won't flow enough. After market ECUs are also a No
Keeping to normal port injection technology makes life much easier.

arrrrr reet well to both you and chris thankyou for filling me in ;)

*to that bit my dads thinking about going for a stage two map for his k1 but that will only require a decat or full system. Stage three requires new pump and few other bits. at the moment on stage one its ment to be just over 300hp couldnt tell you if thats ATW or ATF. I want to RR is but he's a ***** and wont pay to find out :dapprove:

Yeah. Due to the way the injectors are setup to run during stratified mode (fuel saving mode) they are capable of flowing a heck of a lot at full chat. I understand there are companies making modified pumps for the VAG 2.0s now. They are still not great for conversions as they can only be run on the OEM ECUs which require basically the whole donor cars electronic system to function. Companies like Qpeng solve hack the 1.8 20v ecus, don't know if they've done the new 2.0 yet

There is a competion on at the moment between Andy and Jordy of who can break the 9 sec quarter mile barrier. Jordy has managed a 10.4 @ 141 mph and Andy has run a 10.28 @ 138 mph.

( the above story has slightly been blown out of proportion by an over keen reporter :D - he isnt the leading contender at Santa Pod )

Jordy has only been running a 100 bhp jet because he was concerned about the bigger jets damaging the bottom end. Well it did - he ran a 150 jet at shakespeare county raceway in October and the crankshaft pulley sheared off bending all the valves and blowing the engine. Its been rebuilt now to handle 700 bhp so im very confident he will see 9's this season.
