4 Pots vs uprated brakes

  ?
What are the major advantages to 4 pots over other uprated brakes? (ie bigger disks/pads)

IE. Would it be worth spending the extra £££ on 4 pots?

Unless you've got a turbo or supercharged clio, I would say not to bother.

Get some Brembo HCs, Ferodo DS2500 pads and braided lines and you will be very impressed :)

Much cheaper than 4pots, and not overkill.

You dont need them.

Just get uprated discs, pads and lines

(Thats coming from a guy with 4 pots)

Ben is just uber cool and needs 4pots as his avatar pic as well ;)

As far as brakes go im using standard discs and pads and I find them fine for road use, but looking to use one of the uprated packages from K-tec when they wear out.

having done a few of our 295mm 4 pot kits recently i would say every owner who has had them has had nothing but positive things to say about them.

It all does depend on what caliper you go for unfortunalty.

when I bought my 182 I was fully ready to buy a 4pot kit. But as it turns out the oem stuff is fine. Good pads/discs/lines/fluid is all they need. And I track mine fairly hard.

Everyone raves about braided lines but they make no difference unless your lines are shagged?

i'm fitting some lines this weekend with no new pads or anything so can tell the difference straight away.

the rubber brake lines expand under pressure, braided lines dont expand.....

not very much, but that'l be amplified at the pedal/pad. ive only ever heard good things from everyone whose fitted them on any cars

Heat build-up can make rubber lines softer leading to spongy pedal?
Less flex, more positive brake pedal feel?
Better heat dissipation?

I've driven a car on uprated discs/pads etc, then ridden in a car on 4 pots straight after. No difference in ultimate stopping power. Did a hard day at Bedford in mine, and in a long session (40mins out) had no fade with uprated pads/discs. Having experience of both, there's no way I'd pay for 4pots.

ive had 4 pots on 2 different cars, and compared to standard discs and uprated pads, 4 pots, are totally pointless. i have currently 285mm discs and pagid blues, and also have had wilwood 4pots and mintex pads, and the 4 pots do work well, but the squeeling noise is not worth the benefits. for everyday use, use a uprated, standard disc combo.

The standard brake lines are internally braided. I have moquip SS braided lines and I can honestly say that I haven't noticed any difference.

when mine (oem) die i will go for either Brembo Max or HC in combo with Ferodo DS2500 and maybe some braided lines.

The last years of reading up around here it seems the best choice. Four pot brakes will be overkill i think on a light hot-hatch

4 pots are a waste of time imo, my ex clio cup race car has had a 300m hi spec 4 pot kit fitted to it and there just to powerfull. so much that on the super soft dunlop cr311 rally slicks it lifts the rear wheels. I didnt know this till tonight, when it went sideways on me under breaking piling me into a hedge which resulted in a dented bonnet and scrathed front bumper only had it 3 days too :(
