6 by 9’s upside down

Hey, i have got a really nice set of Vibe 6 by 9s which i am thinking about mounting upside down on my shelf (when i get my windows tinted). As with a sub, do i need to connect the wire the other way around? (so the sound comes out the other way, or am i speaking garbage)?

Thanks for any help!!

Justin King

sounds to me like you are talking rubbish. Cause the subs you get which are mounted out of the box are designed a certain way. 6x9s are not. the sound would go directly into your boot if you mount them the wrong way up.

If you want to be able to see them, why not get a perspex parcel shelf made up or something so you can see right through it.

i cant see any problem with doing that apart from it will sound like sticking your head in a metal oil drum and beating the side with a lump hammer with cotton wool shoved in your ears.

you really really dont need any 6x9s mate if you have a sub, i have no rear speakers at all, and if you sat in my car i bet you couldnt tell

i let customers listen to mine, they then get out the car and ask what speakers i got, i tell em about the subs and front speakers, then they always ask about the rear, i dont have any

same as me, 1 12" sub in the back, some comps up front, remember quality not quantity!

Leave the 6x9s the right way round and turn the car upside down;)

As said above an amped set of comps and a decent boxed sub and quality amp for the sub will be fine. If you must put rear speaker in, put another set of comps in the rear cards.

The tweeters on my vibe 6x9s gave up pretty quickly, they are really designed for bass and moderate mid and high end.

Im gonna get rears in mine I think, they are situated in like the rear quarter panel of the car, rather than parcel shelf

oh right, cheers for the replies, feel sorta stupid now though!! lol!

Wanst really sure if it was possible. Ive already got a sub in, but i think it sounds clearer if the 6 by 9s are in. Why does nobody like them?

Because they are a 2/3 way speaker. On of which is bass, you already have the sub so you dont need them for that. They might sound a little clearer (Your only hearing the mid and high end tweeter), so you may as well fit a set of 2 ways in the rear card or in the areas by the parcel shelf (those plastic grilled bits either end of the shelf) for high end.

come and listen to my car and then tell me i need 6x9s.........

they will add nothing mate but rear fill, the sub will destroy them anywayz with the amount of air it pushes

my mate has destroyed 3 6x9s in his car, he never learns though cus he still has 5 of them in there!

my mate has just done his car up full of ice he told me about not using 6x9s, i said well the sub will sound crap with out them and not very loud , then i got in his car which he has no 6x9s just front diamond speakers and tweaters running off a amp and 1 12" sub and it sounds absouloute awsome ,i no what i am going to do in my next car just going to save up get some decent front speakers and amp , and a sub

your best running components in a car to fufil the mid and top end sound then having a decent size sub to produce the bass.

Oh and ive nothing against the Vibe speakers, but they just couldnt handle being set-up for mid and tweeter only

yeah thanks. think ill get rid of the 6 by 9s and see how it sounds, but i have a stealth shelf, so should i keep that in?

why cant you mount normal speakers upside down?

I got a set off audio barn components in the door cards and want to mount them the wrong way round.

Take it this wont be possible then?
