ABS Problems with Reluctor rings

  2003 Clio 172
So right, my wee clio has been doing micro abs farts since I got it.

Nothing major, just occasionally when braking (very very lightly might i add, say at 10mph) i feel the occasional pulse of ABS through the pedal.

So many here advised ABS rings but under inspection, i couldnt see a thing apart from rust on one side and rust/grease on the other from an old cv split.

I couldnt see the rears without removing the discs so had resigned myself to putting up with it until i changed the rear discs in a month or so.

But last night while I was under the car, i gave the fronts a good going over with a wire brush......

Low and behold under the rust, I found a giant crack in the passenger ABS ring.

At least that explains it and i just thought i would give everyone who is facing the problem a heads up. Scrub the rings first :D

On a side note, i see 44 teeth reluctor rings on eBay for like £10........are these ok? Anyone used these? Or is this an item that should be replaced with a Renault item

Cheers
Jj

  Dodgy one
fine with the ebay ones, they are slightly thinner though because they are meant for the rears, Fronts IIRC is a renault only option and only avaliabe with a shaft!!

Theredore you have to line it up with the sensor, I have one i fitted on mine, Works fine and is zinc plated or something to prevent corrosion, 6 months later it looks the same :)
