After engine transplant! wtf is going on (help!)

Hi

I have just got my engine transplant done in my clio 16v!

Drove it on a 10 mile thrash and then slowed down for a round about. As soon as the clutch went in the revs just dropped to 0 and of course made it stall. I then tried to start it with no luck! few mins later I got it going again (for a couple of secs) the revs went upto 3000 rpm then back to 0. I found I can drive it if I keep my foot on the throttle but that is just shite and hard! It was fine when started it from cold and was ok until i slowed down for the round about after the 10 miles.

Whats going on!

Oh and the oil temp guage went to just over 120! Is that normal or bad? It has 15 - 40 oil in it.

Nah its got full service history and is not high milage.

Is there fuel in the tank, is the fuel pump working, and flowing freely.?

Could be the Idle Speed Control Valve maybe??

the oil shouldnt be getting that hot...theres to much friction if its getting that hot. how are you telling the oil temp? i didnt think 1.4's came with oil temps, just pressure guage....

So you were slowing and you dipped the clutch and it died, or you had stopped then dipped the clutch then it died.? (were you still when it died)..?

another thought.....wheres your induction coming from? standard box? or bodge job? check the mass flow sensor. also check breether pipes. an engine will do this if the air its sucking isnt cold enougth.....

Ok I get the reading form the oil guage (its a clio 1.8 16v not 1.4)

It stalled first time when I had almost stopped maybe 10 - 15 mph and the clutch had just gone down. After that you would have to start it with the foot on the pedal cos it would die straight away. I got towed to a garage as I thought maybe I needed more fuel but that was not it. When I drove it to town and home again it seemed fine (not holding back anyway lol)

I put my old iscv on cos I know that was good (always sat at 900 rpm)

I have a standard airbox with a K & N air filter.

No I am saying I put my old iscv cos it was fine on the old engine. Didnt know the cond of the one on the engine I bought. Its not fixed!

Its at theirs atm. Thing is they are just a couple of m8s who like doing car work in free time. They are running out of options so thats why I am asking.

make sure all thease pipes are conected(pic)+start looking for crushed hoses(petrol)+earth points+HT system
