Aftermarket alarm

  500bhp Scoob

Got my mk 1 RT 1.4 which has an alarm (not that i can do anything with it) the built in one, there is a key type thing in the glovebox, not sure if thats standard, anyways its turned off perminently...

Im just wondering what alarms u lot have, that dont have the standard factory ones fitted...

i cant afford to have a cat1 installed, im gonna install one myself, would be stupid not to use my electronics skills...

was looking at them jap pager ones, as itd be nice to know whats happening to my car, but they look quite complicated to wire in...

Also was thinking bout getting the Falcon Predator EVO4 as i would like remote start...

So what u guys got, and what features they got...

if anyone can suggest an alarm, it ideally neads a dual zone sensor so the outside is protected if someone goes near it

I ahve the same prob wiht the std alarm amte was turned off and i dont have the key, gonen rip the lock out soon and splice the wires, after all i think its just a key operated switch.

Cliffords are a good bet, Daz seems up on the current alarms, not sure wot the current ones are, but i really need to get one too.

The thing is id rather pay a few hundred qwuid more and buy less beer for a month or so to have a decnet one professionally installed

i see there being no point in me getting a pro fitted alarm as its an easy enough job, for me anyway been playing with electronics since i were a kid.

its not as if a pro fitted alarm is gonna give me a cheaper insurance quote, as ive already asked.

Id rather save the money id spend on getting a fitter to fit it for me, and putting it towards the insurance

Besides i dont trust pros, ive seen 4 peoples "professionally fitted" clifford alarms, and its poor to say the least, black insulation tape used to cover over dodgy connections etc etc.

You do need to find a decnt comapny to fit a clifford, but they dont give instructyions to just anyone you have to be a certified fitter to get clifford fitting instructions

lol well 1 company that fitted one of my friends alarms was GAP security, others were fitted by other companies.. but still poor fitting, wires left dangling, connections not spliced properly etc etc

I dont really want a clifford thou, too much hassle, and i want to fit it myself lol

But thats not 100% the point. Its piece of mind.. my CAT1 on 1.2 didnt do a thing to insurance, but, I knew when I went to get my car, itd have a lot more chance of being there.

Would you be 100% confident on an install you did yaself? If yes.. then go for it.. youll have the piece of mind!

Personally, Clifford Concept 650 or a Toad Ai606. If you want a good job, I have a great place in Birmingham who did a great job for me on my 1.2. They also do a lot of work and everyone has been very very happy. They do Cliffords mainly I think, but, also Toads..

If you ring them, theyll give you some good advice.. on what to get, how much to spend etc..

If you want to save some money, maybe they can still fit Concept 300s? They would be cheaper than the 650.. and still a great alarm.
