Air box -Ducting question

just had a look at the 172 cup air box..am aware that theres 2 ducting pipes. one that slots into the etal frame, and the other dangles down in the right!

the one on the right, just near the end it looks like there is a circular cap near the bottom. what is this? can it be taken off? there also seems to be sum sort of tubing connected to it underneath too, whats this for?

its a solnoid activated flap that opens once the engine is warm you can remove it but leave it plugged in so you dont get an engine warning light on

so if you fit a IK and remove all the air box, it would be a gus idea to leave this bit together?

you can unscrew the solnoid off the tubing, you must leave this pluged in so the ecu thinks its still there doing it job, i just zip tied mine up put in the fuse box

i removed mine totally, i have had no engine warning lights come on.
