Air Con Smells Funny

My a/c units stinks when I first switch it on, and it also gives me flu-like symptons which means the unit is full of bacteria etc.

Whats the best way to get rid of the smell and bacteria?

Blasting hot air and switch the a/c on (or the other way round) like it says in the manual doesnt seem to make a difference.

mine did that for a while, constant use seems to clear the problem up. ie. use it periodically in the winter aswell as summer. Or I suggest taking it to a specialist as the filter may have lots of nasties in it if the smell continues!.

(or theres a dead rat trapped in the vent!)

take it back to renault. will be covered under warranty. my dads honda accord done this every winter. its terrible, but easily fixable.
