I've searched through 8 years of posts and can't find anything conclusive so starting a thread.
I recently had my oem mk2 ph2 172 steering wheel replaced with a re-trimmed oem wheel, on collecting the car from the local so called 'specialist' the airbag and serv lights were on.
I immediately checked the passenger seat pre-tensioner wiring and it wasn't to blame. So today I took the car to Renault to connect it to the clip system to see what fault codes were stored and if it merely needed a fault code cleared.
Renault highlighted that there were stored faults relating to the passenger seat pre-tensioner but said this wasn't current, backing up my initial check. The 'Faults test' sheet they printed out has a 'Drivers Front Air Bag Circuit 2' notice on it. The mechanic told me he believes the rotary switch has been damaged when the wheel has been swapped as they haven't correctly aligned it.
Has anyone experienced this before? I don't want to replace the rotary switch until I know it really is the likely culprit!
Cheers, Rory
