Alex5 and his recaro'd Monaco

  work for BMW
I am the proud new owner of a 2003 Monaco blue 172!

After deciding i wanted to get a 172 , i knew i wanted to take some time and find a well cared, great example.
Then one day on cliosport i saw a post from an old member @m4rkie23 asking for advice about what to do with his car, i browsed the car and instantly messaged him!

He is a keen detailer and this thread shows he's really rather good at it.

Anyway after the pictures convinced me, i expressed my interest in buying and he reluctantly decided it was time to let it go.

The car is everything i wanted in a 172, ticked all the boxes and its not often that happens , so the spec

The car really is mint, big credit to its previous owners. Body work is so clean and it drives superbly.
It was a pleasure dealing with Mark as well, very friendly and honest guy and did everything he could to help me. For once buying a car was a pleasure instead of a stressful experience lol.

Today i dropped the car off with my local specialist @Dan@SJM to do the Cambelt, Aux belt, Water pump and dephaser. Another great guy, really helpful and certainly knows his stuff. Many thanks!
On the way back i even managed 43.7mpg!

Here are some quick pics of the car, sorry they aren't the best.

What are the seats out of ? They look different to trophy ones? Very nice car btw!

That is a very good question. They are still Recaro treadlines, exactly the same as trophy ones minus the harness holes above the Recaro badge. Possibly from a megane? not sure

I think you should keep the standard wheels. F1s are nice but the standard wheels will look great with the lower springs

Exhaust aside, that is my perfect next car.

What?! i love the exhaust , i wanted one which showed out of the rear bumper as well as a subtle sound.

I am in agreement with you, just provisionally bought some cooksports!

Very nice indeed, looking forward to meeting you at some point!
We should arrange a Bristol bath BBQ meet tbh.

cheers :) we should definitely do a Bath Bristol meet, there is plenty of us so would be a decent turn out.

Just prefer the hidden exhaust on a 172. Don't get me, wrong I don't dislike yours. Just not how I'd have it.

Selling this was a very hard decision. It definitely seems to have gone to a good home though so even if it brings you half as much fun as I've had you'll be a very happy man!! It's been a pleasure to own and the forum has been a massive help over the years. I'll definitely revisit clio ownership in the future.

Last pic I took of it.....

Nice car Alex! I'm local to Bath and was going to try SJM for some minor checks on my 172. Heard good things about him.

Cooksports potentially bought and Spacers will follow! i really want a cup spoiler but i might just wait for the rare chance one comes up for sale already sprayed in Monaco blue
