That will still cause a yellow ish light due to the orange filter. Not good enough for me!

Yesterday I had this little thing turn up.

Fitted, looks bloody tiny. Picking up a proper plug for it today if I get chance.

It's only for the aircon, as the coolant temp has never ever got above half way.

Will get the aircon regassed tonight/tomorrow along with alignment again and then it's basically ready for Llandow/Wales!

Laguna socket is the solution Chris!

After many months of trying to sort a date, we (me and guysy) found a date to swap his gearbox on his 182.

Arrived, Another 182 to get my teeth into.

I love the sound of the K-Tec induction kit on this.

Then pictures stopped lol, Got everything required to get the subframe removed, off. Inc the four main bolts, which thanks to Guy's WD40'ing a little while ago, made them come out pefectly easy, Superb! Subframe out, with steering rack attached as its easier.

Tidied up last night, and got back to it this morning... Lovely weather, so gazebo time.

Again, no more pics until the biggy.

Starter popped off, gearbox oil drained, and all the bolts removed then gearbox carefully lowered (after I'd supported the engine, obviously)

Clutch isn't that worn at all, no signs of heat either, always good.
FE595B13-E2FC-417C-A410-4EDBAA3C0A70_zpsixhd1eht.jpg

As I've noticed a couple of oil leaks, I'm going to inspect the rear crank seal (behind flywheel), so thus replace flywheel bolts, and order a pair of inner ARB bushes as these have seen better days, and what a better time to do it. I'll also fit the new Track rod inners & outers (probably later today)

Hopefully, if everything is in stock, have it done Tuesday night!

More soon....

Nice work Alex, nice to see the pics.

Clutch looks fairly decent like you say, still the new one is another future proofing.

Looking forward to having it back with the new parts, just hoping this gearbox is as good as it was sold to me as. Fingers crossed !

So I finished Guy's 182. I didn't get any pics, other than...

Fitting new plugs to my ABS loom (that runs from front to rear), finished item, did the same on the other side of the plug obviously.

Finally sorted the ABS issue I've had that could be solved by wiggling the plug lol.

Few more bits to be done before Llandow...

Fog light plug
Service
clean

Ive got a blue cheap silverline polisher with a fair few pads and some menzerna / megs polishes, im no pro by far but Im slowly getting better at polishing and a bit of wet sanding here and there.

Yeah I will try and come to one at some point.

Wales!

So, Started off with travling to South Wales Tuesday evening, meeting up with everybody at the pub before retiring to my hotel.

Off to Llandow the next morning, fitted my track wheels & tyres (A048's) and ragged it about all day... Once I had fixed the boost leak, which I think Tim. Has a picture of me fixing? lol

But, the day was epic, I had a good laugh, epic people around, not going to mention everybody but you know who you are. I will 100% be there next year, so I hope the guys do it!

Then it moves onto my roadtrip around Wales. I started off leaving my hotel early Thursday morning, and almost instantly found this awesome view.. Ignoring the rain.

Then I'm not sure when I got all of these, but various points over the Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia (although I don't think I got any up there) and Evo Triangle.

I then headed over to Billing for CSS on Friday, 1500 miles later.
Cheers to hiben1 / dmallett for this pic
IMG_4463.jpg

I came home a day earlier than expected, but I'm glad to be home now. I have a couple of videos to edit and upload, which I'll do within the next week.

All in all, I had a brilliant time in wales, subsided a little at CSS, but I'm happy, and the little DCi did a cracking job, both on track and around wales, other than the boost pipe issue which was solved by borrowing tools and cable ties from fellow members it was faultless, I feel I should give it some loving now.

So, back to the grind, having no time and being busy as hell again.

No problem / no hurry mate :) It was great to meet you at the Llandow event and also again at CSS. I was impressed with your car and driving at Llandow and fingers crossed you'll be along to a future BurpSpeed day!

EDIT: Nice pics and write-up on the Wales trip, too. I'm not biased in the slightest but it is a beautiful place (in some places at least!)

Nice write up, glad you had a good trip.

Good to meet you last weekend :)

Good to hear too, I was very happy with the little DCi around Llandow. You only saw my driving in the morning too, I think I got a lot better as the day went on. I will 100% be at another BurpSpeed day.

Wales is truely beautiful, Already thinking of heading back the end of next month!

Its only running 1.25bar, Ish. apart from when the wastegate pipe came off and I did half a lap of Llandow with 1.5bar.

It doesn't need doing, I'll wait until it does, its sounding the best it ever has right now.

mine sounds better now ive ran 5L of shell nitro petrol through it LOL.

honestly its made something free up as it's sillent when warm. all my glow plugs are fucked thanks to a wiring fault somewhere bettween glow controller and ecu.
so starting it first thing in a morning is fun!.

wouldnt blame you, im guessing its lost hardly f**k all coolant then?

  Many.
I put some Diesel Rihno through it before Wales, seemed quieter, but then after 1500miles it seems quieter again, without any more being ran through, not been runing 2T through it for ages as I've just forgotten.

The Black 80 has a glow plug fault, apparently while I was away it didn't start as well, so might have to sort that.

Its loosing so little, I cba to fix it yet, I just fill it up every week or two.

Mines fine! I've never put the wrong fuel in anything, and I've had both petrol and diesel at the same time.

i wasnt ment to put petrol in my dci, ended up rushing around friday and filled it with 5L of petrol before noticing.

so now its got 40L odd of diesel, 5L of petrol and 2L of 2T.

yeah mines firing up but it dies off slowly, takes a few attempts before it can heat up enough in the cylinders to fire up and idle. perfectly fine after tho. i might just rig up a 11v circuit to a switch for the glows, problem is the ecu will have a mardy as it controls them for long idle or after heat.

oh, if your pump ever goes, the newer dci pump ( still delphi ) off a nissan Q' , is a more powerfull pump but needs a inline feed pump to it. and adam told me carwoods does home brew injectors + pumps.

Thats a lot of 2T!

I dunno what the black one does, its been fine for me. Will worry about it later.

I hope my pump never goes, considering I replaced it 40k ago, and I've looked after it. I got a little worried about injectors, but they have settled down now.

And cheers Dr.

It's not harmed it, I've done half a tank over the weekend so I'll fill it up later.

Your pump should be fine, as long as you don't put dodgy diesel in , that little lift up pump cog won't s**t itself in the the high pressure side.

This week, I have scaryopa 's Clio 182.

Gearbox is fucked, Dephaser is rattling and I've already found a couple of other small issues, so its having cambelt kit, Dephaser, Clutch, Gearbox rebuild by Agency and whatever else I find!

I was pretty s**t at getting pictures, because I wanted to get it done and I had some help by a mate.

But... Engine ready to come out..

Will make a start on stripping cambelt etc off tomorrow, and cleaning the engine bay.

Will get more pics as it goes back together, I want it done within a week, which would be easy if I could work on it all day everyday! and If I wasn't waiting for Agency to do the box.

More soon...

Looking good so far mate, if you can do it in a week then that would be superb, if not dont worry lol. Atleast she will be working properly again soon enough :D

So long as when i get her back theres no boost we will be all good XD

Box is perfectly spot on now, Martin at Agency is nicer than I expected, and the dephaser, is obviously, quiet like it should be.

Only had one issue during the whole thing, I lost the key for my DCi, turns out it was wedged in the 182 between the subframe and the radiator, must have put it on the battery and then knocked it off. Lucky it stayed there!
21F29054-3D57-4AF4-84E4-21C35106685D_zpsceicdgme.jpg

Genuine relief was felt holding these keys.

Then tonight had a look at my boost pipes, I've wanted to get rid of the standard pipe, and the dodgy adaptor for a while, so bought some pipes a while ago, figured it all out tonight, just waiting on a reducer, and I'll get that on, hopefully before Castle Combe next week.

Seems I haven't posted for a while in here. Top work bud.

Was good to catch up at mine and at Llandow. I was really impressed with how the dervmobile was hustling around Llandow if I'm honest. That photo of 3 Flamers floating about is quite good :)

Losing keys? Which moron would do that.
