Alternator fitment

Hopefully the last hurdle before I get the AC running again!

While waiting for the last bolts and washers to arrive I've tried to test fit the alternator but it doesn't seem to fit the mounting point (by about 1-2 mm).

Measured against the old alternator from my other 182 and the space between the two lower mounting arms on the alternator is exactly the same.

The bracket between the engine block and the compressor is also from a 182 so should fit?

Am I missing something?

Need to push the spacer out then it’ll drop straight on and then when it’s bolted up it’ll pull back out

Ah brilliant, the spacer seemed stuck in and I didn't want to risk breaking anything.

Thank you!

No worries mate! Just rig up a little puller with a socket and nut/bolt and it should move, failing that hammer with a punch usually works too lol

Good tip. I'll see if I can get it to move with a wiper puller.

The metal of the alternator casting looks quite brittle so I prefer to avoid too much hammer action.

100%, hammer action is the last resort when all else has failed
