Alternator pulley? What is it?

Rang round a few places for my mate's 182 about the aux job, a couple of places said that they won't change the alternator pulley.

Question is, the aux kit comprises of idler pulley, belt and tensioner.

Is the alternator pulley a separate part? And if so what does it do and why is it a b*tch to change?

Im assuming by alternator pulley it means the pully ON the alternator, shouldn't need changing anyway!

Alternator is a one piece unit mate.

Hmm, definately heard alternator pulley, Macks Garage in Pontypridd and Renatec in Bristol both mentioned alternator pulley!

LOL! You can't change the Alternator pulley without replacing the alternator.

*makes mental note not to take my car to Renatec in Bristol!
