Aluminum Sump

Why would this be done- is the sump extremely heavy or is aluminium stronger than original material?

My guess is weight saving....A steel sump would probably weigh quite a lot more.

but then again a steel sump is much quicker to manufacture than an ali one

ok well basically - not sure if you guys know I am having my valver track prepared (fully) by a comp called btec in oxfordshire - have the willy engine in etc but they have also replaced the sump and built and Ali one - they are trying to remove as much weight as possible, just weird, never heard it done before

A lot of the F7's come with ally sumps anyway.

Oh weird - how about the willy 3 engines did they come with Ali as standard as they def. said they had fitted/built an ali sump as part of the work.

No was def. the sump - he said they spent hours welding it
