An even hotter Mini Cooper S

  2005 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro

According to Auto Express the legendary British tuning specialist John Cooper Works is developing this high-performance MINI.
This super Cooper is even approved by BMW and it will probably sell like hot cakes when it becomes available in the UK next year.
The upgrade kit will enhance the Cooper S power from 120kW to a powerful 150kW and torque is increased from 210Nm to an impressive 253Nm. It is expected that this muscle Mini will go from 0-100km/h in six seconds!
John Cooper Works is also not you average tuner. Auto Express reports that this company has an even longer heritage than the MINI brand. It has been involved in racing since 1940 and its modifications transformed the original MINI from city runabout into a giant-killing race winner in the Sixties.
Therefore the modifications to the Cooper S are done professionally and the car will keep its reliability. The alterations include a new head to the 1.6-litre power train from the standard Cooper S. According to Auto Express this will be gas-flowed and the MINIs supercharger features modified turbine blades to improve the boost.
An induction kit and a freer-flowing, large-bore sports exhaust will be added, while the engine management system will be reprogrammed.

Seems like its going to be quicker than the Hartage then! And with more Warranty its probably worth it. mmm........I still think the Hartage exhaust (mini M3) for the Cooper S is cool. But havent yet seen John Coopers alternative! And they needed to modify the Supercharger! Without a doubt! I drove one and expected a lot more! But recieved a lot less than 1.6 S engine! lagggggggggggg

Mini Adventure - Mini finds Cup, Cup wins, The End

Nah think the centre exhaust is better, if it didnt have those weedy 1inch pipes.

Anyway, 172/cup owners can rest easy it seems.

yeh the design is nice but would look cool if they were a bit fatter. I only feel the Coopr S may give the Cup owners a run for their money round the corners.

Hi all, My names Dan and I work for BMW Mini Oxford.
In actual experience of driving the Cooper S, The handling is not as great as you might think.....
Even though the Mini has the Same wheel base as a land rover, Its extremly bad at taking corners.
I took a mini cooper S home from work one night and decided to take it for a roundabout test.
Hairpinned it at 45 mph and the back end slid out, not allowing me to keep the speed up, there fore rusulting in a dangerous cornering manuvoure.
But on the same test, With My Clio, on 17s and lowered, 50 mph was acheived without spinnage.

The Mini Maybe very hyped up and made out to be great, But at the end of the day, Its a little BMW. Heavy and sluggish.

HOORAY!!!!

Real views!!!

See i told you now go and do the same test in an old mini

70mph anyone?

Well said Phoenixd1 what ever it is the New Mini (cough, cough, spit) aint a Mini - its a compact BMW.

BMW are just screwing with the Mini heritage.

And dont get me started on the Cooper S branding - the compact BMW isnt a Cooper in the same way that sticking stripes down the centre of my RT doesnt make it a frickin Dodge Viper.

(There was even more of a rant here but I just re-read it and deleted it as I was sounding just a little like my Dad)

Rant over.

Thankyou
