Another Artic Blue 182!

  Clio 182
I haven't really posted a lot on here so I thought I'd put some pictures up of my 182...

*** Please note this has been copied from another forum so hopefully will make sense! ***

I bought this back in January as a replacement for my Saab 9-3.

First day I owned it I replaced all the orange bulbs for Silvertecs (I hate orange bulbs...)

I had only owned the car for a couple of weeks when this happened:

I could have moaned but this gave me the opportunity to fit a Scorpion system (library picture):

A couple of tyres were getting a bit low so I bought a new present:

Please note I don't have that little plate on very often...

Last Saturday (12th May) I was driving home from work when the battery light came on the dash. Got home from work and put a multimeter on it - alternator died... Quick call to Renault parts department had one on order... Once I removed the bumper I found this:

The top bolt was missing... Bugger! Closer inspection revealed this:

Removed the alternator and found more damage:

Removed air-con pipe:

Whilst the bumper was off I took advantage of this and made a couple of modifications to it. Firstly I added a Skoda splitter to the bottom of it:

Then I sorted another common fault on these which is the headlight washer jets leak badly after being used. To get around this a couple of one-way valves were fitted:

After being off the road for about 4 weeks waiting for parts / money I finally got it back on the road. Needless to say the first drive was slightly "spirited" - especially as the mpg reader was well under 20!

I have put some Renault Sport stickers on the rear windows which I will upload some pictures tomorrow.

I also had some left over spray paint from when I had my VR6 Golf so I decided to have a play with the fog light surrounds. So 4 coats of primer, 7 coats of main coat and 3 coats of primer later:

Not bad for a first attempt although in this photo you can see where someone decided to use my bumper to stop their trolley in a car park... I will be purchasing some yellow caliper paint next weekend ready to get them done.

Also when I renewed my insurance I decided to add an air filter to the modifications list (even though I haven't got one yet!) and the cost difference was extortinate... a grand total of £0 for the whole year! I think I need to get a panel filter..

Plans:
Get air con sorted as currently not working
Calipers to be painted yellow
Full service including cam belt (will be sent to Cit-Ren in Norwich for cam belt)
K&N filter (cone or panel)
30mm drop maybe?
LED number plate lights
Possible wheels refurbished in black or anthracite
Front bumper repair / respray

Thoughts please!

(apologies for some of the images being the wrong way round, I rotated them on photo editor to the correct way but they've not uploaded to photobucket correctly. I'll try and sort them one day!)

Yeah I agree but unfortunately I am having to keep modifications cheap as I am trying to save for a house deposit...

Looks good mate, got some nice plans as well :)
Lovely colour as well, but i may be biased :p!
If you need ideas on the wheels, look in my progress blog, i have anthracite cup wheels

Well it's been a while...!

The Clio has been put on the back burner slightly whilst I debated whether to replace it with a diesel but I have since decided that I love this car so much that it's not going!

Since my last update I haven't really done a huge amount until the last week or so apart from replacing the front discs and pads but I now have some proper updates!

I fitted a small aerial on the roof

I've got some Mangecor Leads and brand new spark plugs to fit although you have to remove the inlet manifold plus a few other parts to fit these so they will be a job for the weekend!

Clio42_zps40d20843.jpg

I'm going to Renault tomorrow morning to get an Oil Filter, Fuel Filter, Pollen Filter and Engine Oil as well as having a few other parts priced up that I need.

The car is going in for a Cam Belt, Water Pump, Dephaser Pulley and a couple of other bits on 8th February - I'd normally do this job myself but as it is Variable Valve Timing I shall let someone who has all the specialist tools do the job... For the sake of £120 labour it's cheaper than a new F4F engine!

More updates coming soon...!

Comments and Critism welcome

(again I apologise for the pictures being on the side, I have rotated these in PhotoEditor and also in Photobucket and they still aren't right...!)

Time for another update!

This morning I had a few jobs to do on the Clio, one of which being an oil and filter change. Having decided that as the temperature was close to freezing I decided to leave that for today...

What I have got done today:

Smoked Side Repeaters

On Friday it is going in for a cam belt, water pump and dephaser pulley so nothing more will be happening this month...

C&C welcome

  Clio 182
Cheers!

I forgot to add, I've also replaced the cruise control on/off switch as it wouldn't stay on... Things like that irritate me so it had to be sorted lol

Quick update:

On Friday I took the Clio to Cit-Ren in Norwich for a cam belt, water pump, dephaser pulley, coolant and brake fluid change. Very impressed with the service and the price! The timing was slightly out on the old pulley so they have adjusted that up so it is now running sweet as a nut!

Next job is engine oil and filter and then in May I shall be replacing the air conditioning radiator...! Should be fun! :S
