Another clutch question

My Ph1 has today started making a horrific noise from the clutch / box area.

First thought was a release bearing or clutch itself however the noise is when you press the clutch in and it's a noisy metal on metal noise but not every time, occasionally judders pulling away again though not every time.

The clutch other than the occasional judder pulling away is fine, no slipping even when driving enthusiastically once rolling all seems fine.

Any ideas what to check first? Car has 99k on it

Yeh that's what I'm thinking I was hoping it could be something, Cars probably not worth as much as repair will cost.

That's better than I thought tbh just need to make sure it's definitely the clutch and not a box problem.

Sounds like release bearing.....

Mine lasted 100k miles until the bearings ran away and it all fell apart....
