Another Cup (172 obviously)

Hello everyone.
So I joined the forum about a year ago but didn't become an 'active member' till a couple of weeks ago.

I found a 172 Cup on here which was previously Scott's and then briefly owned by Ricardos.
So last Saturday (21st) I made the trip to Thundersley, Essex to buy the Cup.
It had a decent service history and had only covered 64k which was a fair bit lower than most Cups I saw. It had also had the cambelt changed. I only paid £2,100 for it so thought I'd got a bit of a bargain.
It had a ProSpeed exhaust, K-Tec Coilovers and Xenon's. I am planning on making a few changes.

Some pictures from the previous owner

Since purchasing on Saturday I have already started doing a few things,
firstly I removed these horrible door protectors, I know they serve a purpose but I'll just be careful with the doors.

They're gone, much cleaner looking

Then I decided I didn't like the 6*9's in the parcel shelf

So replaced them with some speakers in the rear door card as standard

and put a new clean and uncut parcel shelf in, much better imo

I also removed the side window stickers as they were all peeling anyway

Added my cliosport sticker

So I have a few plans...
Firstly get the standard cup suspension on with some eibach springs.
Get the rear bumper resprayed. (eventually front end too)
Get a new gearknob and inserts.

Got some new pillar badges on the way to fix this...

So a final few pictures for now

Typed that up the other day, since then though I have already had issues.
Car started running rough so I took it to Fred@BTM who diagnosed it as a faulty map sensor. He replaced this and also informed me all 4 plugs were the wrong ones so I had those replaced.
Unfortunately it also seems the clutch release bearing has gone which is going to be an expensive job and it seems that at least one of the previous owners on the forum knew about this problem, should have checked previous posts.
Anyway that will all be sorted eventually.

Ah gutted mate. Hope you manage to sort things out. Looks good on pictures. Is it a stealth exhaust then?

Yeah just a bit, it's running okay now, just gutted that I need to spend £400 on a clutch which was money towards a set of cams. Need to get better pics as they were just on my iPhone. Yeah is a stealth exhaust, fairly quiet until you open it up.

Yeah bit of a shame they didn't say mate, especially selling it on here as there's plenty of comeback for a dishonest sale. Any symptoms of the clutch release bearing? Looks like a nice car mate, so hold onto it.

Smart mate! Good to meet you on Saturday, hope to catch you at future meets :)

Thanks, yeah was good to meet you too, you got some good pictures of ours next to each other. Will certainly attend as many meets as possible as you're all a good bunch.

Yeah was a shame, turns out Ricardos who I purchased it off didn't know, I wasn't sure if he did but certainly the previous owner did after his posts on here. Well I didn't notice so much before but there's quite a squeek coming from it and also it does seem to have some difficulty in changing gear and pulling away which I put down to me not being used to the car.

looks a minter for £2100...shame bout the problems but good luck

Thanks, yeah I'll get it sorted soon and then it will be mint.

Looks real good! If ur selling the xenons let me know ;).

Thanks. I'll PM you first if I decide too.
