any air con tech's here? no charge in system

My air con system on my pug 307 doesnt blow cold air.

My local kwik fit have done two failed attempts to gas the car but they are unable to charge it because they cant get any high pressure gas into system.

The car radiator does not ingage when turning on air con either.

What part could be at fault? They suggested Compressor?

Why can't they get the gas in? or are they getting the gas in and its leaking straight out???

If the compressers seized it won't engage with or without gas, if the air con gas pressure sensors knackered, it'll think theres no gas in the system - so won't run the air con. The rad fan will only go if the air cons working.

If its anything like the Renaults it'll be pressure sensor or compressor, or at the other end of the scale blow fuse? / Dodgy switch?

well that is kwik fit for you they don't know any thing about air con all they have done is purchested them selves a machine that will do every thing automatically if it cant do what it is trying to do it will turn its self off i would recommend that you take your car to a air con specialist and get them to fix it for you .

i know thats what i should do but specialists charge an arm and a leg and there are none in my town. I have checked the system for leaks using UV die and none are apparant. I'm tempted just to buy a recon compressor and try that.

Phone your local garages, some if not most will have a AC regas machine.


it has been regased twice but wont charge due to some fault with my air con system (so they say). they cant get any high pressure in.

the gas is filled on the low pressure side of the system so there should be no problems with the gas going in to the system :S .

it could be a blocked dryer that is causing your problem but i would have to see the car to know that for shore basically if you get any moister in to the system then the dryer will do what it says on the box but when you get to much moister in to the system then the dryer becomes blocked as the dryer is on the high pressure side of the system this could be part of your problem.

when you turn on the air con do you hear a click as there should be a click which means the clutch on the compressor has cut out and the compressor is running ?

just had a look at car. When turning the air con on and off i can hear the clutch in the compressor disengaging and the revs of the car going up slightly. Does this mean it a dryer problem then?

Also regarding getting high pressure in. The garage were saying there was no high pressure in the system after re charging it and one of the dials on the charging machine was showing that. think i misunderstood them a bit.

i would probably say yes then it dose sound like it you will need to go to a garage that does air con rather than kwik fit to get it sorted if they managed to get the refrigerant liquid most people think that it is a gas but it is a liquid in to the system then it means you do have a blockage on the high side of the system most probably the dryer but it would also mean that you have a leak on the system as well i hope that this will help you getting your air con fixed
