Any discernable difference between 172 and 182 power?

  GW RS200
So is there any discernable difference between 172 and 182 power? Anyone confident they could sit (metaphorically) blindfold in either car and be able to tell the difference in delivery? I have a 172 and always rue those 10 missing horses....

Off the line my mates 182 is quicker.grrrrrr. But I can keep up with him just about.

We tried on our own private runway the other night.I won once, due to a good start.:D

The 182 seem to loose some low end power compaired to the 172 IMO. But that might be due to milage the 172 usualy have more miles on them whih means more power anyway.

any tussle ive had with 172's ive had an initial (gradual) pull away...

then after that very minute difference....

My car has a lot of miles tho...

I had a mk2 172 from new for just over 4 years with 48k on the clock when i sold it in February this year . Bought a new 182 in Feb and to be honest the 172 was quicker , probably because of the mileage difference . The 182 only has 2700 miles on the clock so far , so is far from being loose .

But there isn't much in it .

Bugger all difference IMO...

...only I don't have a bloody spare wheel, and I've got boy-racer pipes spoiling the look of my bumper.

ahh and onto spare wheels - any foolhardy 172'ers dumped the spare wheel for a can of foam like those 182'ers? I tried to use the standard jack the other day and it's awful - I was pretty sure that on a dark rainy night broken down on a camber with a flat you might just aswell not bother having either the spare or the jack at all and enjoy the weight saving the rest of the time! Haven't had the courage of my convictions yet tho! :)

Glad i made the upgrade to the ff 182 with cup packs though from the ff 172 . It handles hell of alot better , better suspension and the exaltos stick like sh*t to the proverbial blanket :)
