Any performance advantage from using a silicone elbow on a Ph1/V6 airbox?

the silicon one does have a bigger diameter over the whole length; if that increases airflow/performance ?

But if the whole idea of fitting matched inlets, decat, air filter etc is to promote airflow, then would a silicone hose not be a good mod? I want it to be cosmetic only cause its one less thing to buy, but you could link the silicone hose philosophy to matched inlets- the original is rough, the replacement is smooth.

yes, should see gains of 7bhp. and increase torque across the rev range. 8-)

Very little difference from hoses.... They're better at preventing heat soak and a slightly bigger diameter, but the differences are negligible....

Bigger diameter isn't always good thing though.

just from a silicone bend? awesome, if i buy four of them will it get me over 200bhp ;) obviously not expecting anything from just the hose, but the whole increasing the airflow thing lends itself to the idea of a silicone bend.

or maybe a straight one with the battery in the boot and the ecu flat on the battery tray :approve:

cool. but where do you stop :) the differences between a decent flat panel filter in the std box and the v6 airbox are arguably neglible.

appreciate all the comments. probably saved myself £22

They may be a larger diameter, but the throttle is still the same size.....

7hp ? From a silicone bend ?! Not sure if comment was SRS or SCZM. :S

I think he was talking about the whole package... Matched inlets, v6 airbox and remap.
Just a reading fail I think.

It's worth £22 just for the fact that it looks nicer.

dunno i still think sarcasm related to the silicone. 7bhp from spending upwards of £500, when you put it in figures it doesn't seem worth it. but then, it'll be a whole lot nicer to drive. nothing better than putting your foot down and getting a kick. plus i can sell most bits if i get rid. apart from the map of course.
