Anyone running an espace V6 airbox on 172/182

172 Cup & Clio dci Van
any one running an espace v6 airbox on their 172 182? some of the guys on clio trophy forum talking about it a while ago, seemed to think it was a cheap alternative to some of the induction kits and systems i.e vipers typhoons etc

so anyone running one? any good? what does it sound like?comparable noise to a.......??
noticeable improvement on performance?

Cheers

I'm running one, and to be honest there's no real gains that you can notice. I did originally think that it picked up better but that might be the influence of the induction roar.

Sound wise, it sounds standard until you open up the throttle fully and it gives quite a roar, sounds a bit booming if it fo it at low revs, but sings oncce it hits 4000

money wise I still think geting one of these with an after market element filter in is money well spent to wasting it on an expensive IK

I have one, removes the '4k kick' and feels like it pulls harder to the redline ... also produced 177bhp on the rolling road for reference ...

Here's a few pics of mine in the thread above.

My 5K kick is still there in all gears so not sure why the two are different. Like I said earlier I did think it pulled better at lower revs though

Now has a black Samco induction bend, K&N replacement filter and the air feed into the airbox is the standard V6 Espace pipe cut down then into a flexi-pipe

Ive got one not sure if it has any influence on power or not but the induction noise is much better than stock.

I have one fitted to mine with a ITG filter, it's deffo the best IK i have had on the car by miles!

It also sounds very good too.

Here's mine. Can't say I've noticed much difference from it, but this combined with taking the power steering off saw my curve go from 176 bhp at peak up to 186 bhp (shows a small loss below 4k now but goes like a banshee above 5k)...most of which was probably down to the steering pump...

Have you removed the acoustic valve?

I've tried it by leaving the acoustic valve in place and inline with the inlet track, still on the car but not affecting the inlet track, and then removed all together, and it made no difference to the VVT kick at 5k

iv removed th valve, replaced the CAFs and ktec pannel filter, bit more grunt lower down the revs but nothing to make u cream your pants, but if you have 30 quid for the filter and half an hour on a sunny day, might as well ay?
