Anyone tried these insurers

  ex Clio 172 owner :(

(This is not about elephant but bare with me its about First Alternative)

Ive been with elephant for the past 3 years as theyve always been the cheapest (thats after adding my mother as second driver).

Last year, with 5yr ncb, no points or claims, they wanted £550 for my VTS (bad area).

I had a slight prang and needed to make a claim last year. Elephant now want £760 for the VTS. Before the accident they wanted £750 for a 172 but now they want £1002 !! Lol, Im 29 and been driving 12 years, with one minor claim!!

Anyway, Ive been shopping around, QuoteMeHappy (Norwich Union) want £850 for a 172...

However,

Ive found a place called First Alternative http://www.firstalternative.comhttp://www.firstalternative.com

I got a quote for a 172 for them, declaring the accident and all my other details and managed to get £686. Thats with 15k miles per year too.

Anyone had any experience with them?

Im with them at the moment. They are the sister company to esure and are a Halifax and Bank of Scotland company.

I wont go with small insurance companies.

esure wont touch me, but FA quoted me better than anyone else I tried. £100 less than last year and I have 3 more points.

A guy at work recommended them to me as his misses has her Bini Cooper S covered with them.

First Alternative refused point blank to provide a quote for me.

26 yrs old, 4 years no claims, no points, good area, two other cars, but my clio has modifications.

They refused my mate too. 30 years old with a standard Impreza Turbo 2000 on a T plate which hes had from new. God knows why they took me with 6 points!! I do have Full NCB though. My car is standard, garaged and covered for 16k miles a year.

That group of companies (esure FA) were the only company that refused to quote me even though they advertise specifically for people with 4+ years no claims. Will be going back to greenlight next year as they will protect 5 years but not four. Delta will be insured with AON next year, Ford Mundano is cheap with any company.
