apart from the exhaust. whats different 172/182 cup?



  Soon a 172 CUP
as above, the 182 seems to have lots of luxeries compared to the 172?
is the 182 faster or the same as the 172?

I have a cup, and it seems slightly quicker thn most 182's but has the 182 exhaust and a few other bits so not fair really!
I beleive its mostly just the exhaust mani being a 4 - 2 -1 instead of 4 - 2.
Although i have heard the inlet manifold has slightly better castings, but nothing that would make a huge difference

If you look at the power to weight figures the Cup has the best figure.

In real world there's little difference, but I prefer the Cup myself.

The real cup is a stripped down track car that doesnt have ABS in most cases, wont have AC or CC, has thinner glass, no 1/2 leather, no xenons, wider track. Wheres as the fakey 182 cup is a slightly stiffer suspensioned 182.

182 Cup isn't a 172 Cup wannabe!
The 182 Cup has Air Con, Cruise Control, Speed Limiter, Electric windows, mirrors etc. 172 Cup doesn't have aircon etc and people think its a little more 'hardcore'.

true actually the cup has nothing in it at all, even when audi stripped their TT they only lost 40kg same for the CSL M3 but reno managed to get 90kg`s out of the cup hehe its a tin and it handles goes superb, with back seats out it only weighs 1004kg pretty darn light for a 2.0 16v supermini

some will say yes some will say no.

personally i feel (again with seats out) that my cup is quite a bit faster than my old MKII172 and that was no slouch

Nothing much in it, between Cups and FF 172 / 182's. Cups will always be faster on a strip / track, but you wont notice much difference out on the road.

I wanted luxury with Cup suspension and spoiler so i chose a FF 182 with Cup packs.

0-60 probably not alot in it, but do you plan on driving everywhere doing 0-60's?

Would be quicker on track and be more rewarding.

does lowering the cup spoil the handling?
i noticed quite a few people have lowered them like -25mm and -30mm

6.9 to 62 in the book for the Cup and the 182 iirc
7.1 for the Feltz 172

lol a cup will pass a ctr, ive done it (again no back seats + hillpower indcution) on the twists id rather be in a cup its more illict feeling and gives you genuine feedback where as a ctr doesnt.

in fairness the cup is only for men and the least girliest of clio`s

Well the cup is a person lighter than the 182, its only an extra 10bhp.

Who cares there both fast.one is better suited to a track,but in the real world everyday theres bugger all in it.

a 182cup will still do 6.3 on best/hardest launch according to autocar and 100 in 16.7 however if you dont launch right and by that i mean slight wheel spin or not a gearbox munching shift (which they dont like) you will be doing a 6.7 in an 100 in 17

the cup has the widest track on offer but its genuinley scary in the cold/ice although wheel spin doesnt seem to be as great in the cup ? maybe wider track but it allows for it to sprint pretty quickly

all good cars though
