Apple's Printed Book

  Fiat Panda 100hp
Created my first wedding book via iPhoto. All in all it looks good, front cover is a little flimsy but not bad for the price. Cost £30 roughly and was delivered within 4 days.

I would recommend them, but I'm going to try something else next time. I like the simplicity of it though. Create it in iphoto and click Buy it - Done.

yeah I agree Bunny, but as they are going to be rather expensive, which is fine if your charging £1k plus. That book would have lost me money lol. When I have a few more under my belt I can go for something like that.

sorry you just said you were going to try something else next time thats all :(

i really have no idea how much ours cost was just over 2k for the photographers album (40 photos iirc) and 2 parent books

£2k!!! for 3 albums? f**k me.

How much did the guy cost for the day?

that was for the photgraphers and albums the parent books are about 180 each iirc

we had 3 photographers as he brought his wife and daughter with him for the weekend

That looks fantastic, clear and clean as you would expect from Apple.

Photobox products are very very good when they come out well, but quality control is questionable at best. I use them an awful lot, and I would say 1 in 4 of my 'gift' orders have issues, so I would certainly never even consider them for a wedding, especially if the couple are hoping for a reasonable turn-around as getting stuff re-done can take time.

I've had 8 books from them and although I've kept them all, I wouldn't have been comfortable giving at least 5 or 6 of them to clients, they have well documented issues with black marks appearing on pages and very small creases are quite common.

Ironically, as I was typing this reply my latest order arrived! I had 110 business cards delivered ready for Saturday. I placed my order like this...

They came like this, the text is in a completely different place. One quick check by a human and it would have been clear it was wrong.

I really like that Ben, hard to tell without having it in my own hands, but it looks of a decent quality to me. I'd also say you've been hiding away a few great photos from the day as well from what I can see there. :)

That's pretty bad Chris! I'd be having a word with them. I've only used them once for an A2 print and that was fine, but 5 out of 8 books and a complete mess up with the business cards isn't acceptable. (Excellent cards btw, they look mint!). Does the arrival of business cards also mean you're 'back in the game' so to speak?

I would be really disappointed if I got business cards through like that!

really like the simplicity of the apple book though :)

The only reason I stick with them is that they always re-despatch faulty orders with no problems, so as along as you're not in a rush you do get a good product eventually! Not ideal for wedding shots though, I imagine, as I assume they want them in a reasonable time frame..

Too late for me with Saturday now, will hand them out with the white side facing up :)

Yeah I suppose as long as things don't get too hectic then it's not so much of a problem. I'm not one for scrounging, but if it persists, I'd be pointing it out to someone at Photobox and ask them how they can expect you to keep using their products. Tbh, Photobox would be the first place I visited if I wanted anything doing, but I'll be extra careful to check from now on!

Lol at handing them out white side up, glue them back to back even? Glad to hear your pursuing new business anyway. :)

Thanks for the comments on for book.

Ian - Yeah there are loads I didn't post lol, I don't feel comfortable posting them for some reason.

Chris - Lol at the text, that is pretty bad. Just explain as you hand them over and have a laugh about it.

I also made one of their books for my GF made from our holiday photos and was very happy with the final product. Very good value for money imo...

Quite surprised about those cards. I always presumed it was automated. What you type/upload is what is printed. I can understand the printing mistakes with paper etc but that is shocking.

I had calendars ordered last year and had to have 3 replacements for the black backed ones as they were covered in little specs. But you do get replacements with no hassle.

I posted about a Photobox problem here once before where something came out different to what I designed, and somebody said exactly the same about automation, very odd. Customer Services passed my email onto the Production Analyst anyway, she has corrected the fault and put them through to be re-sent.

Little specs are quite common, also received my Christmas Calendars from them today and they were covered in white specs that, thankfully, just brushed off.

Anyhow, proves my point about relying on them for professional wedding stuff. When finances allow, always go with a company that does it by hand (or at least checks them by hand!)

Calendars sorted already?! You are organised!

I'm still waiting to take firework/Christmas tree shots before mine gets done! lol..

I ordered 2 last year. Both the same. 1 had specs on. So I complained and they replaced it. That also had markings on it. The next time they said it had to be hand checked by a manager.

I can almost understand spelling mistakes/typos as they are obviously working quickly, but to completely move the text and into a place it's obviously obstructed seems bizarre.

i use photobox all the time, had loads of photobooks off them and only 1 order has been messed up, the binding on one of the books was coming undone but their customer service is very good, they never argue about replacing things so i can't complain.

i've also had calendars done the last couple of years and they have beem faultless.

talking of calendars, just got an email about a 2for1 this weekend, ends tuesday midnight, code is EARLYCAL

I got my cards from goodprint - best quality I've seen really nice cards

not used photobox in ages, sent stuff using DScolourlabs for prints and they have been great and significantly cheaper than photobox

Out of all the cards ive seen ive not seen any higher quality prints than what goodprint can produce.

They also do 50% off vouchers every few weeks.
