Are ph2 clio sport's appricating ?

  182 ff, classic mini
Just looking though some for sale ad's and noticed they seam to be demanding more on one that 12 months ago, I know some are overly priced by dealers etc. But the average price seams to have rose are they all being dragged up by the trophy's future classic status and there hi price?

There’s still loads of cheap ones - it’s just the remaining good examples are commanding more money.

So the values are at both extremes now.

IMO they are only going to head one direction and that’s up. It may only be steady for now, but even the dogs will eventually be worth something as times change and they become hard to come by..

That's true the gap between the good and bad has increased but the cheap ones aren't as cheap as they have been. I have been considering selling my 182FF but I'm thinking I might just stick it in the garage with my impreza for what it owes me.
Nice to get different opinions on it.

If you want a low mileage, clean 1*2 your choices are becoming more and more limited, so you need to pay more to get what you want.

If someone’s just after ‘a 1*2’ then there’s still thousands of ‘em out there.

my mate was looking for a cheap 172 for a project last year and put it on hold when he moved house, he's now on the look out again and said to me the other day he cant believe the difference, a year ago £1000 was getting you something that was a good enough base to work with and now even the shittest of the s**t is costing more than that

This makes me feel better, I think I paid over the odds for my 88k flamer with more dents than a bean tin and minimal/questionable history. Mostly dent free, new cup suspension and new belts etc now so maybe it's worth what I paid for it after all that

  Whichever has fuel
As with anything specialist (in terms of belts, suspension etc) the ropey one’s will keep plummeting and the good ones will keep rising.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Exclusive colours ( LY / RB )
Low miles
FF cars
Sub 50k
will be £6-7k soon if mint.

Im still proud to have probably sold the most 182s in the UK.

I don't watch as much as I did, but I think there are fewer cheap ones out there now. They're popular as track cars so demand for cheap ones has meant that there may be fewer out there. People are also asking strong money for good ones, which also drags up the price of the rougher ones.

I have recently gone back to a Clio as I wanted a cheap fun car and just bought a 197. They're getting so cheap now that it seemed better value than a 1*2 to be honest.

I suppose they will be rising as the rarity increases but at what rate is anyone's guess, iv had so many cars 40 plus but right now iv got got a clio 182 FF (my second 182) and a blobeye impreza they are the best all round cars iv ever had both are good standard examples,Im renovating my house at the moment so bought a van. So I should sell them for room and some cash but my issue is if I do that and come to replace them in 4-5 years time I'll be paying through the arse for them.

I agree ph1 are the golden underdog!!

Whatever is happening in going to keep driving mine. Life's too short not to play with your toys. ,

amen, daily 182 life is the gift that just keeps giving! lol!

as for 197's, cheap to buy now but they'll never be cheap to run like the mk2's are plus they're the first of the fat clio's.

It's only the swivel bearings on the 197/200 really. I haven't noticed much difference otherwise.

These amazing cars are at the bottom of the deprecation curve and are a complete bargain right now and should be enjoyed to the max. They are probably one of the best, lightest sweet handling hot hatch cars of all time.
Having said that I amongst others think that thrashing this thing to death and moving on is not an option.
These cars are never going to worth big money in our lifetime so investment potential is very poor but good ones will always increase in value.
Going to compromise with my BG FF and spend money on getting her on the button which doesn't make financial sense, enjoy the drive and not mothballing it a carcoon for my grandson to cash in when I peg out!!

Knicker in a knot? barking up the wrong tree my friend (y)

I did save a LY from scrap heaven after buying it as a CAT C...

however I did forgot to colour code the bumper screws

Being the person who bought this car off you, I can confirm this side is certainly the better to have taken a photo of 😅 (i.e. the side that didn't get paint).

wait till the b*****d starts breaking! After 10x MK2s i decided to revisit mk3 ownership after the first one bit me a few years previous, done my research, bought a minter, 9 months and thousands later it was sold!
swivel hubs
gearbox
exhaust manfiold x2
front dampers
exhaust
engine mounts.

i shiver when one drives past now lol

My 182 is my daily with now 117k miles on and it’s still pretty damm mint to be fair. Doesn’t have a single dent or blemish on it apart from the odd stone chip up front.
Due to its miles, it will never be an appreciating asset, however it’s value to me is more about what it means to me.

Sub £20k I struggle to think of a car I would enjoy more every day. My plan is to just keep it running for as long as possible, and whatever the mileage, just keep driving it.

Nobody is ever going to make big money on them and certainly nobody is going to be on their deathbed thinking...

“i wish I’d driven my Clio less” 😏

In fairness, a good chunk of that list impacts the 1*2 as well. My 197 crunches a little into third if you give it death, but my 172 did for the four years I owned it too. I'll give you the exhaust manifold, as I am going to have to do that at some point, though I guess you could argue that it's a result of lack of maintenance as much as anything.

baby mileage that, 204k on my daily 182 and wouldn't have it any other way, get the most enjoyment out of it as a cheap fun hack about

Yeah mines on 110k feels brand new 😊. I just feel in a few years if I want to get hold of a good example I'll be paying more than my current one owes me.

Life is too short to worry about getting 3 grand profit from a car you've got to keep mint for over a decade before its price actually does something😂😂 The amount of time you would waste on keeping it you could have bought and sold 30 cars, make £200 profit on each of them and you would be better off

Cut bits out of them, weld in bits so they cant go back to original condition easily, make them faster and kick their f**king heads in because you never know if you're gonna pop your clogs tomorrow or when you're 100 years old

I paid £2500 for my 172 in red in June this year - 70,000 miles, 2 owners but no service history.
Got the cam belt done and now it needs the brakes looking at (probably new discs and pads)
So it owes me about £3000.
Great little car and I will keep her.
