ARP Bolts - DIY fitment?

I'm looking at buying some catcam 422's next month and then getting my car mapped
It's already got ITB's, Omex 600, 182 manifold etc.. etc..

I've heard the conrod bolts are a weak point and my engine is getting on a bit so I thought for £45 I might chuck some ARP bolts in to be on the safe side

Is it a case of just pulling the sump off, undoing 1 bolt at a time and replacing it with an ARP one torqued up?
I'm assuming you can turn the engine over with the bolt on the bottom pulley to get to each bolt?

Thanks for any advice

You'd need to replace two at a time. Taking the whole end off and then starting from there rather than one bolt in one out

Also need to consider the valves, they just as weak at high Rpm. Have/are you changed/modified the pistons to go with those cams?

422's also require uprated springs, meaning it's a head off job no matter what. the valves WILL hit stock pistons with 422's unless the valve pockets are machined

Sorry guys - I got the wrong cam code - it's 421's I'm fitting

I'm not doing anything with pistons or valves on this engine as it's nearing 120k

Planning on getting another engine next winter and building that up as a replacement

leave the big end bolts then.

Our engine had 95k road miles on it before being fitted to the race car. Did 30 hours between 5,500 and 8,000 Rpm before it let go

completely agree. Not a lot of point adding bits to an engine thats going to be on it's way out. I'd probably save the cams for the new lump too

Is it possible to do this without touching much else? Is it simple a case of sump off, oil pickup moved/removed and replace the standard bolts with the ARP bolts? Or is there more to it...

Frame needs dropping to get at the sump though. If engine is out it would be easy.
