Ashes RB 182

A little bit of background info...

Started off with a PH2 1.2 8V, great little car, put up with me till this day had it for over 2 years. Had the cambelt snap on me, but that was down to me not getting it changed sooner. Learning from my mistakes got the car sorted, only mod was a CD player i didn't see the point in modding a 1.2 IMO.

After building up my NCB i bought a PH1 172 in black pearl, which was lovely only had 72k on the clock was a complete bargain. However it became a bit of a garage queen i had the intentions of keeping it for a while to restore/mod a bit but i lost interest and set my eyes on a 182!

Very nice! Good choice of colour! The front grill is looking like mine was when I got it, I'd give it a coat or 2 of satin black as it's looking grey. Transformed the front end on mine

I'm looking forward to seeing the results of spraying the grill black :)

looks a good project fella. looks very nice. i was never a fan of rb but it has well and truely grown on me!

It's growing on me more and more as well now tbh!

Good start mate. The 172 looked stunning.

Cheers fella, when i bought the 172 it was in a bit of a state, i bought it due to its low mileage and mechanical soundness. Spent hours cleaning, making small fixes etc... really came out well :). Was gutted to see it go, glad I've got the RB now!

Gave the car a quick clean this morning got rid of the renault sport badge, ready for when i get my new R.S. badge. IMO it will look a lot less clutter, much better :)

Keep on getting a squeaking noise i think its from my exhaust heat shield, thats going to have to come out when i change the exhaust.

Update today got rid of the acoustic valve and fitted my new fog light bulbs :)

Just pulled back the arch lining and was confronted with this mess

Loosened the horn bracket off, removed the connections into the valve and prized the free.

While i was there i took out the old fog light bulb.

Then the new one.

Comparison between the two.

All tidied up cabled tied the old connectors etc away.

After snapping the two clips to hold the lining into the arch i had to use a cable tie just as a temporary fix.

Wire brushed the hub and added new copper grease before putting the wheel back on. Moved onto the other side to replace the fog bulb. Managed to not snap any clips this time...

Tidied it all up again etc etc, job done.

Tidy, thats something that ive always wanted to do, even though i rarely use the fogs.

Feel free to annoy A shift on the way into/out of work.

Looks great, really tidy! Racing blue has really grown on me.I was never too fussed about it until I joined up here, the amount of good examples on the forum must have swayed me somewhat :D

Just a teaser below....

Looks great, a top job from Si hes been great to deal with :). Looking forward to receiving this in the post, should be here for Saturday or Monday expect to see an update soon :)

Just a small update received the cup spoiler this morning, nice one Si it looks stunning. Went ahead and fitted it;

The spoiler

Amazing finish on this fairplay :)

Old spoiler removed

Was faced that mess ^^^ i removed that red clip as it was stopping the new spoiler to fit. Also had to adapt/butcher the old brake light clip to fit into the new brake light in the cup spoiler.

Finally got it to work after blowing a fuse :)

Job done

Looks good, however as soon as i drove down the road the engine management light came on? :S i think the car doesn't agree with it. It's driving fine no lack in power, stuttering prehaps a dirty sensor or a dodgey connection somewhere?
