Athenticating PC Games

You know how the game checks with the Cd to authenticate it before playing?

The last 2 games I bought are causing me problems.

Games:
DOW Winter Assault
FEAR

They keep failing to athenticate and can take anwhere up to 6 tries at authenticating.

I have no problems with my DVD drive, it installs software without a problem so I'm not sure what's going on.

Any ideas?

EDIT: looks like it's game specific. Found a large thread on this about the FEAR game. Hopefully the patch will resolve it.

well the patch didn't sort it but i found a seperate exe patch that support provide. Someone had hosted it on a forum, it's done the job for FEAR authentication.

simon had the same problems as you are getting. upgrade the firmware of the drive and that should be it.

The FEAR patch for this specific problem sorted it out although I'll have a look to see if there is newer firmware - cheers mate

lol a fair few updates since the firmware i had.

I had 2.2 and i've just installed 3.6. Have to see if it improves things
